Job Summary
This role is responsible for leading the integration of business strategy, analytics solutions, and data engineering capabilities to drive Direct & Strategic Partnerships decision-making and business outcomes. The Director will oversee both Business Solutions and Analytics Engineering functions, ensuring the design and delivery of complex, data-driven solutions and high-quality, analytics-ready datasets across the organization.
The position partners closely with business leaders, analytics teams, and technology organizations to translate business needs into scalable data products, advanced analytics solutions, and actionable insights. It combines strong business acumen, strategic leadership, and deep technical expertise to influence data and analytics strategy, optimize data infrastructure, and enable data-driven decision-making at scale.
The Director manages the data lifecycle from acquisition, integration, quality, stewardship, governance, reporting, and enablement, and is responsible for helping define, prioritize, and monitor the successful development of a scalable data and analytics ecosystem
This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for coaching and developing teams, driving innovation, and serving as a thought leader across both analytics solutioning and data engineering domains.
Essential Job Functions
Strategy & Business Partnership
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise data and analytics strategies that align to business objectives and drive profitability, growth, and customer outcomes.
- Partner with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities where analytics and data solutions can create business value.
- Translate complex business problems into scalable analytics solutions and data product roadmaps.
- Influence and guide strategic decisions by integrating insights from analytics models, data products, and business context.
Analytics Solution Development (Business Solutions)
- Oversee the design and implementation of highly complex, value-based analytics solutions that support strategic initiatives and business processes.
- Ensure solutions are aligned to stakeholder needs through strong requirements gathering, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Evaluate emerging data sources, AI techniques, and tools, adopting new capabilities where they meaningfully improve insight, automation, or decision support.
- Act as a liaison between business, analytics, and technology teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
Data & Analytics Engineering Leadership
- Lead the development of scalable data pipelines, data models, and analytics-ready datasets that enable enterprise analytics and reporting.
- Oversee end-to-end data workflows including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, validation, and quality assurance.
- Ensure optimization of data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across cloud-based environments.
- Establish best practices for data architecture, modeling standards, and data governance.
Data Governance, Quality, and Compliance
- Define and enforce data governance policies to ensure data accuracy, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Implement data quality monitoring, validation processes, and controls to support trusted analytics outcomes.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop a team of Business Solutions professionals and Analytics Engineers, including people leaders and individual contributors.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Coach and mentor team members to build both technical depth and business acumen.
- Provide performance management, career development, and succession planning for the organization.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as a senior liaison between business stakeholders, analytics teams, and technology partners.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and analytics insights clearly to non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
- Influence cross-functional teams and leadership to adopt data-driven practices and decisions.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Data Science, Engineering, Analytics, or Business)
- 10+ years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, or data engineering roles.
- Proven experience in people leadership, including managing managers and/or cross-functional teams.
- Experience in insurance or financial services preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Deep understanding of data engineering, analytics, and business processes, including end-to-end data workflows.
- Expertise in SQL, dimensional modeling, data pipelines, and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics and their business applications.
- Demonstrated ability to craft and execute enterprise-level data and analytics strategies.
- Knowledge of MDM, CRM, reporting environments, dashboarding tools, and data governance practices
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and deliver measurable business impact.
- Knowledge of emerging data sources, AI techniques, and tools.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity with an entrepreneurial mindset and a track record of results
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
