Job Summary

  • Oversees Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) at Farmers New World Life (FNWL).
  • Modernizes processes and implements streamlined and/or automated controls to enhance ICFR through FNWL’s culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensures a reliable and efficient control environment.
  • Partners across the business to ensure a culture of accountability and business effectiveness.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, local, Head Office and Board level stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure Farmers New World Life (FNWL) is and continues to operate in a consistent manner with Zurich ICFR Core team guidelines.
  • Serves to ensure that FNWL is compliant with the NAIC/ DOI’s Model Audit Rule, including but not limited to the documentation, self-assessment and testing guidelines.
  • Designs standard practices for the ICFR Framework to ensure both compliance and efficiency.
  • Oversees the Quarterly Process Owner Sign-off process to ensure that it is completed on time, accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversees the research, development and completion of various Company-wide initiatives to ensure that ICFR requirements are incorporated.
  • Responsible for ensuring standard practices are established to maximize ICFR Validation of Control Activities and Managements Review of Control Activities.
  • Utilizing finance background and financial systems knowledge, manage the implementation/ development/ creation of new platforms for Finance and the Business to improve their operations through efficiencies, timely and accurate information and/or insight & analytics.
  • Manages Corporate Financial Governance activities with other departments and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Leads the remediation of control issues.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, Masters or similar preferred.
  • CISA preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • External candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of prior Accounting or Finance experience including 1 year as an Accounting or Finance Supervisor and 2 years as an Accounting Manager or Supervisor. The same time-on-job requirement is preferred for internal candidates.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
