As IFRS 17 FP&A (PPM) Lead, you will be responsible for building and managing a highly functioning FP&A team to deliver insightful and actionable management information. You will collaborate with functions across the business to lead timely and accurate forecasting of the company's financial results. You will work as an integrated part of the IFRS 17 implementation program to understand the effects of IFRS 17 on the financial strength of the Company.


FNWL's primary offices are in Bellevue, Washington however this role can be performed remotely anywhere within the U.S. on a long-term basis with occasional travel for onsite collaboration.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and develop a highly functioning team to generate executive level financial information for senior management including the Board of Directors.
  • Conduct business impact assessments in order to support strategic decision making, including collaborating with the finance and actuarial functions across the organization.
  • Analyze and review relevant information to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of all FP&A deliverables, including IFRS 17 related financial information and forecasting.
  • Drive system changes to facilitate actual reporting, forecasting and planning for the future state, including coordinating end-to-end testing of the system solution.
  • Proactively identify inconsistencies in financial data and initiate corrective action(s).
  • Work closely with the parent company to lead local aspects of Group Capital reporting.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher 
  • CPA or FSA (or equivalent)

Experience Requirements

  • At least eight years of experience in a FP&A role in the life insurance industry
  • Experience with data sourcing activities, can dive deep and understand complex data models (including accounting and actuarial life data models)
  • Experience with chart of account design, data architecture, data management and finance systems architecture
  • Experience in leading and developing teams
  • Proficiency in regulatory and capital reporting, with group reporting experience preferred
  • Public Accounting experience and/or Actuarial consulting firm experience ideal; including opinions, valuation sign offs, and/or complex accounting/actuarial implementation experience 
  • Corporate experience in leading, developing finance and/or actuarial teams ideal (demonstrates strong skills in talent acquisition, development and motivating high performance teams)
  • Economic modeling experience and ability to explain economic results including, but not limited to: Market Consistent Embedded Value and Value of New Business
  • Financial economic familiarity: CFO Forum, Sources of Earnings
  • Experience with other similar economic frameworks, for example: Solvency II and/or LDTI

Special Skill Requirement

  • Robust and comprehensive understanding of IFRS 17 accounting literature
  • Strong ability to communicate complex finance and actuarial analyses and results
  • Executive presence and ability to have insightful discussions with senior management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, in particular, the ability to convey complex financial information succinctly and accurately
  • A proven record of delivering high quality results while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective leadership skills in a team-oriented environment
