Job Summary

The Loan Officer Assistant (LOA) works directly with and supports the loan origination staff. By working collaboratively with the loan origination staff and processing team, a successful LOA has current product knowledge of loan programs and will be able to communicate loan requirements with members, processors and loan officers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists and supports the Loan Officer with inquiries, pre-approvals, loan pricing, and structuring. Ensures all documentation is compliant and accurate.
  • Follows up to ensure the timely return of all documentation requests from various parties such as title companies, appraisers, etc.
  • Provides member support and managing lock expiration dates.
  • Analyzes tax returns and accurately calculate income for all types of borrowers.
  • Provides customer service to members and communicates with borrowers, real estate agents, escrows, and title companies for mortgage transactions.
  • Assists with the ordering of vendor services for standard loan requirements and verifications such as, title, escrow, appraisal, verification of employments, verification of assets etc.
  • Collects borrower documentation necessary to complete the loan transaction including income documentation, asset statements and initial disclosures.
  • Utilizes daily pipeline views to prioritize workload, call member/borrowers with status updates, and track issuance and receipt of disclosures.
  • Verifies signed loan disclosures for accuracy and completion.
  • Concurrently coordinates multiple real estate loan files with timely and accurate follow-up to parties.
  • Ensure all files and data input meet compliance and regulatory guidelines set forth by applicable agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Bachelors Degree preferred. National Mortgage License required.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years experience in home mortgage loans required. Product knowledge of FHA, VA, Conventional loan programs required. Knowledge of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac lending guidelines and knowledge of the laws, regulations and fundamentals of real estate lending required.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
