 The role combines the technical skills of a data engineer, the analytical mindset of a data analyst, and working business acumen.

 

Hybrid to our Caledonia, MI Office Location

  • For this internship opportunity we are seeking someone who is able to work full time during the summer and then continue to work part time during the school year.
  • This is a hybrid & paid internship that is located in Caledonia, MI in our Farmers office location.   

What You’ll Do as a Farmers Intern

You will develop crucial and highly valuable data analytics skills as well as soft skills through the course of your internship. This is an opportunity to work alongside accomplished professionals and gain valuable skills for your future. Additionally, you will learn how we use innovation and technology to drive our business forward and through project work, job shadowing, hands on work experience, and exposure to Farmers leadership teams to expand your knowledge and experience. Some duties of an Data Analyst Intern include:

 

  • Work closely with data analysts to learn the data flow through our applications.
  • Query data for research and validation on both mainframe and distributed platforms.
  • Perform data analysis and design work on problems of varied scope.
  • Build and execute scripts to manipulate existing data.
  • Evaluate business impact of application bugs and data issues
  • Clearly communicates complex technical concepts and data insights.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring as a Farmers Intern

  • Ability to analyze data to address and solve business problems.
  • Familiarity with SQL, XML, ETL and DB2.
  • Preferred but not required: IBM Data Studio or SQL Server.
  • A passion for learning and development.
  • Willingness to independently learn and make an impact within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, an excellent problem solver and a quick learner.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Education You’ll Need

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors (BS/BA) or Masters (MS/MA) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics or Computer Science.   
  • You must be a student enrolled in an accredited college during the duration of the internship. 
    • Specifically, a rising Junior or Senior level undergraduate student or graduate student.
