Job Summary

As the Guidewire Personal Lines Domain Architect, you will own the architecture vision, target-state roadmap, and technology strategy for the 10B Personal Lines portfolio, including Auto, Homeowners, Dwelling, Personal Umbrella, and related products. You will serve as the architectural leader responsible for aligning business capabilities, modernization initiatives, and Guidewire platform investments with enterprise objectives.

 

Connecting business vision with technology execution, you will define domain standards, reference architectures, and solutions that guide delivery teams while enabling long-term transformation. You will steward the evolution of Guidewire PolicyCenter and the Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP), ensuring scalable, resilient, and compliant solutions that power digital experiences, data-driven decision making, AI-enabled capabilities, and operational excellence.

As part of a dynamic, technology-forward, and highly collaborative architecture team reporting up to the CTO, you will bring curiosity, creativity, and a bias for action, continuously exploring emerging technologies and translating them into practical business value. As a trusted advisor and change agent, you will help shape the future of Personal Lines technology, build consensus across diverse stakeholders, and influence key investment decisions across the portfolio.

What You'll Do

 

Guidewire Domain Stewardship

  • Define and maintain the architectural vision, target-state, and multi-year roadmap for the Personal Lines domain spanning Guidewire PolicyCenter, GWCP, APD, and related ecosystem platforms
  • Establish best practices and solutions for product configuration, integrations, data architecture, cloud-native design and AI-enabled workflows in underwriting, document processing, legacy transformation etc.
  • Lead modernization initiatives spanning cloud adoption, API-first architectures, event-driven integration, digital capabilities, and advanced analytics.

 

Governance & Enterprise Alignment

  • Lead architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, resiliency objectives, and security principles.
  • Align with peer domain architects on priorities and influence portfolio planning and technology investment decisions through guidance and strategic assessments.

 

Leadership, Innovation & Collaboration

  • Provide architectural leadership and mentorship to Solution Architects, engineers, and Agile Release Trains, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Champion emerging technologies and creative solutions that advance business value and competitive differentiation.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships and facilitate cross-functional coordination across business, product, data, and engineering teams, driving alignment and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts, risks, and trade-offs clearly and persuasively to both technical and executive stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

 

Insurance & Guidewire Expertise

  • 7–10 years of insurance technology experience, including 6+ years working with Guidewire InsuranceSuite.
  • Deep knowledge of Personal Lines products including Auto, Homeowners, Dwelling, and Personal Umbrella.
  • Strong expertise across PolicyCenter, GWCP, APD, Jutro, and Guidewire integration patterns.

 

Architecture Leadership

  • Proven success defining architectural strategy, standards, and multi-year roadmaps for a major business or technology domain.
  • Experience leading modernization efforts across multiple platforms, teams, and Agile Release Trains.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and enterprise integration patterns.

 

Communication, Collaboration & Coordination

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and ability to influence, negotiate, and build consensus across stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams and to motivate and mentor others.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum eight years of relevant experience required, with at least four years in an architecture role focused on a specific business or technology domain.
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud migrations, digital transformation programs, AI/ML integrations, and advanced analytics platforms.

Education Requirements & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Foundational-level industry certification required upon hire.
  • Architect or senior-level industry certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • Professional Guidewire certifications, preferred.
  • AWS or Azure Solution Architect certification, preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
  • Proven experience leading and delivering the architectural strategy and multi-year roadmap for a significant business or technology domain, influencing key investment decisions required.
  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.

Physical Actions

Job is performed in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. The physical work environment is indoors and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Normal and customary distractions include background noise produced by office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions. Possesses adequate hearing, with or without correction, to communicate with co-workers, respond promptly to auditory signals or alarms, and discern sounds essential for maintaining safety and productivity in the workplace.
