Job Summary

This role is responsible for all application architecture direction across Farmers Insurance, including Personal Lines (Farmers, FWS, 21st, Bristol West, Foremost), Commercial, Distribution, Claims, Digital, Marketing, and Service Operations Architecture,  This role is tasked with defining architecture strategy across the enterprise to define and guide delivery towards vision which drives efficiencies, pace, and quality.  This role is accountable for our business unit roadmaps that identify and execute key opportunities to mature and evolve our architecture.  This includes advising on key technology investments required to simplify and modernize that drive new growth and/or an improved customer experience.  

Essential Job Functions

  1. Manage business and IT stakeholders for the daily operational quality of Farmers integration and overall maturity of our technology platforms
  2. Ensure architecture delivery is operating at the appropriate service level
  3. Provide leadership in the area of business case development on strategic and transformation programs.  For example:
    • Build architecture roadmaps and reference architecture for our applications supporting our business units
    • Define technology standards and patterns to drive technology rationalization which improves quality, reduces time to market, and creates significant savings
    • Innovative upgrades to our applications to protect our critical assets and ensure compliance
  4. Provide leadership on all incident responses with an architecture assessment which highlights remediation steps required to bring stability and improve the quality of our technology platforms
  5. Provide thought leadership on key strategies, such as (but not limited to) Salesforce, Cross-Sell, Lead Management, Quote and Bind, Low Code and UI
  6. Align with and influence Zurich on architecture strategic direction

 

Additionally, this role will manage and lead all Farmers Application architects, including all Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects and System Architects (dotted line).  The team is comprised of nearly 40 architects reporting up through a direct reporting group of multiple Directors and Principal Architects.  This department also has the FWS architect who is responsible for leading the integration architecture for FWS into the Farmers landscape, ensuring our ability to exit the TSAs on time and on budget, while ensuring our end state is aligned to Farmers standards and vision, key to driving ongoing synergies and improved experience across our Customers, Agents and our Service and Claims reps.

Physical Actions

This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. /= Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience Requirements

This role should have at least 15 years of experience as an architect and at least 10 years with people management experience as a senior leader. The expectation of this role is extensive architecture and technical domain knowledge In-depth knowledge on understanding the P&C Insurance business.

Special Skill Requirement

Technical skills align with the needed knowledge. This role is expected to be both hands-on and have the technical aptitude to understand and drive the day-to-day operational activities and the architecture roadmaps for all of our applications.
