Job Summary

This position is one of high influence on people, results, and outcomes.  This position is responsible for the Claims National APD claims handling, APD strategy and Regional Casualty and results. The overall objective of this position is to guide, direct, manage and determine the strategy for all Claims Lines of Business in APD claims handling. Provides direction, leadership, operational management and vendor program management for all lines of business APD Claims.  


Responsible for managing the complex and diverse regulatory, Casualty and Autobody Association business environments Nationwide. Maintain personal relationships with key members of the DOI, coordinate efforts with internal compliance and regulatory affairs. 

Location Note: While accepting applications nationally, the role will require a hybrid presence at a Farmers hub location.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborates with all lines of business teams to develop common claims strategies and executes to ensure consistency and achieve superior results. Promotes seamless interaction with the other claims support areas to set departmental policy and procedure. Works with business leaders to develop and implement field operations strategy and process that serve the businesses. 

 

Act with integrity and in compliance with the Farmers Insurance Group Corporate Compliance Program. Establishes and continuously fosters a culture of compliance retaining sufficient oversight to ensure that breaches are discovered and brought to his/her attention. Ensures that swift and appropriate action is taken to remedy discovered and prevent future breaches. Responds promptly and accurately to requests by the Executive Compliance Committee and/or inside or outside auditors for Representations of Compliance.

 

Works in collaboration with Head of Auto and all Key Line of Business stakeholders as well as peers to set strategic direction for handling and management of APD claims in all operations, initially with heavy emphasis on the successful coordination of managed repair vendor programs - people and processes.  

 

Engages with Product, Distribution, and Underwriting to support execution of goals.  

 

Maintain and update as needed, an exposure- based staffing model that supports our strategy, to meet accuracy, efficiency, and service goals.

 

Evaluate and control continuity and quality in file handling.  Achieves this through a consistent approach to file handling across the organization. Assures the establishment and maintenance of adequate and accurate reserves.

 

Oversees org. restructure, selection, evaluation, compensation, transfer and termination of personnel in consultation with HR Business Partner.

 

Talent management - Develop leaders that can assume key roles and responsibilities at Farmers.

 

Authorizes and/or approves payment of claims or grants trial authority in conformity with established limits of authority.

 

Determines the overall training needs of claims personnel; works with University of Farmers Claims department to develop and/or carry out training programs utilizing staff training facilities and programs.

 

Performs standard management duties including, but not limited to, ensuring that department goals are met, preparing and administering performance evaluations, conducting career and corrective action counselling, and providing input, recommendations and approvals regarding new hires, transfers and promotions.

 

Responsible for talent development and career advancement of staff.

 

Responsible for improving employee engagement.

Education Requirements

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience Requirements

15 years’ experience, focused on complex claims management, change leadership, operational and strategy deployment experience preferred.
