Job Summary

The Head of Property Claims is accountable for the overall strategic direction, leadership and management of Property Claims including field operations, centralized/inside operations, speciality, commercial and catastrophe claims for both property and auto lines. This position requires significant influence across all claims lines of business and is responsible for Farmers and Foremost catastrophe response across the entire US. This person will drive national business strategy responsible for performance in Property Claims regarding litigation, customer experience, quality, property perils, compliance and human capital and will collaborate with wide range of stakeholders and the broader claims organization to develop and prioritize initiatives and timely execution of business priorities.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Accountable for all Property financial results (LAE) and indemnity.
  • Defines the Property strategy in context of the overall Claims and enterprise strategies and in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with Product, Distribution, Underwriting and Pricing to support the execution of enterprise goals.
  • Leverages data and analytics to improve claims performance.
  • Acts as escalation point and decision maker on large cases, case strategies and portfolio management.
  • Oversees the development of best practices for vendor selection and integration.  Accountable for direct contract negotiation and execution of national program vendors.
  • Supports the development, communication, and implementation of effective operating strategies to drive quality claim resolution and process improvement.
  • Talent management - Develop leaders that can assume key roles and responsibilities in the Farmers.
  • Oversees organization restructures, selection, evaluation, compensation, transfer and termination of personnel in consultation with Sr. HRBP.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication are essential, advanced presentation skills

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years experience, focused on complex claims management, change leadership, operational and strategy deployment experience.
  • Extensive technical claims knowledge (policies, coverage, regulations, claims processing) and proven ability to understand critical drivers within the claims organization. 

Education Requirements

  • Minimum 4 year college degree.

Physical Actions

This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. /= Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
