Job Summary

The Discovery Analyst II is responsible for the records management function within the Suits Against the Exchanges (SAE) group which includes acquisition and administration of documents and evidence from all functions and levels of the organization on highly involved and complex litigated matters. Handling the assignment of the more difficult cases to manage collection of large amounts of documents, as well as identifying witnesses on unique topics. Expected to analyze documents and exercise discretion with limited instruction from the SAE Discovery Counsel, SAE Counsel, and Litigation Specialists. Working in conjunction with SAE Counsel, Discovery Counsel, and Litigation Specialists, incumbent uses various tools and systems (e.g. Discovery Library, ProLaw documentation system, Deposition Bank) to establish which entity is responsible for handling suits against the Exchanges and to obtain documents needed by defense counsel to defend the Exchanges. In addition to reporting tasks from ProLaw, Discovery Library, Legal X, and other systems, the Discovery Analyst II is accountable for supporting the Claims Legal Services Administrative Supervisor and Discovery Attorney on discovery functions and assumes responsibility for determining as well as assigning discovery in litigation relating to the Exchanges on highly involved and complex litigated matters as outlined above.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works directly with SAE attorneys, Discovery Counsel, and Litigation Specialists to locate and produce responsive documents, process improvement analysis, and communicate with outside business units to obtain information for the defense of the Exchanges on highly involved and complex litigated matters.
  • Analyze documents and exercise discretion with limited instruction from the SAE Discovery Counsel, SAE Counsel, and Litigation Specialists.
  • In addition to tracking as well as coding and storing documents in the Discovery Library, also responsible for obtaining and reviewing copies of deposition transcripts and maintaining them.
  • Operates in tandem with defense counsel around the country, SAE attorneys and the Claims organization to obtain & evaluate data relevant to the defense of suits against the Exchanges on highly involved and complex litigated matters.
  • Assures maintenance and updating of computerized litigation management systems and performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of three years’ experience in records management. The preferred candidate will have a Paralegal Certificate.

Experience Requirements

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and ProLaw (Siebel based file management system). Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with demonstrated commitments to meeting individual and team goals. Strong internal and external customer service ethics focusing on identifying as well as implementing solutions to complex business and legal challenges. Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 25 lbs. ma ximum, bending, talking, hearing, driving, seeing, speaking and traveling.
