Job Summary

Farmers is seeking a forward-thinking Lead Domain Architect specializing in Enterprise Network and Telephony to spearhead the design, strategy, and governance of our global network and unified communications (UC) solutions. This role is pivotal in shaping our transition to and optimization of cloud-native and hybrid architectures.

The ideal candidate will drive the evolution of our enterprise connectivity, voice, and collaboration platforms across on-premise and multi-cloud environments, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, and Azure. This position requires a combination of deep technical expertise in modern networking, cloud communication technologies, and enterprise telephony systems, along with the strategic vision and leadership to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions aligned with our business goals.

Strategic Network & Telephony Planning

  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for hybrid and multi-cloud network architectures spanning GCP, AWS, Azure, and On-Premises Data Centers.
  • Develop and lead the strategy for Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), including platform selection, migration planning, global voice integration, and feature enhancement.
  • Evaluate and champion emerging cloud networking technologies (e.g., SASE, Cloud Firewalls, Global Load Balancing) and advanced communication capabilities (e.g., AI-enhanced automated attendants, cross-platform UC integration).
  • Collaborate with business units and IT leadership to translate requirements into scalable cloud and hybrid network and telephony solutions.

Cloud-Focused Architecture & Design

  • Architect secure, resilient, and performant network connectivity solutions within and between cloud environments (GCP VPCs, AWS VPCs, Azure VNets) and on-premises infrastructure using VPN, Interconnect/Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
  • Design and document robust architectures for communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams Voice, Zoom Phone) and their integration with the PSTN and legacy voice systems.
  • Design sophisticated cloud-based and hybrid enterprise voice response systems and automated attendants, potentially integrating AI/ML capabilities for enhanced functionality.
  • Develop reference architectures, standards, and design patterns for cloud networking constructs (e.g., transit gateways/hubs, firewall insertion, DNS strategy) and unified communication deployments.
  • Design end-to-end solutions encompassing cloud routing, security groups/cloud firewalls, load balancers, DNS, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and Quality of Service (QoS) in complex hybrid environments.

Technical Leadership & Governance

  • Provide expert guidance on cloud networking and hybrid integration to engineering, operations, and project teams.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards and best practices for all network and unified communication deployments.
  • Review and approve detailed designs for cloud network infrastructure and communication platform configurations.
  • Serve as the top-tier escalation point for complex issues spanning hybrid network and cloud communication services.
  • Mentor engineers and junior architects on modern network and telephony technologies and methodologies.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Clearly articulate complex cloud and hybrid technical designs and strategies to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Work closely with Cloud Platform, Security, Application, and Data Architects to ensure cohesive end-to-end solution designs.
  • Engage with vendors for cloud services, UCaaS platforms, and networking technologies, participating in evaluations and selections.
