Job Summary

This position leads creation of user-centered design solutions that drive business success and user satisfaction. The role serves as a subject matter resource in user experience to guide teams and ensure designs align with business objectives and user needs. The position manages the entire design lifecycle from research to implementation while optimizing user interactions at every stage. The role performs more complex design work to lead development and maintenance of design systems that prioritize consistency, quality, and functionality across products. The position manages performance of direct reports, owns the outcomes of multiple projects, delivers on design plans and priorities, and enables design team effectiveness.

 

What You'll Do

  • Leads research efforts through contextual interviews, surveys, A/B tests, usability activities, data analysis, and competitive evaluations to understand user behaviors, motivations, and pain points. Guides research teams to define the target audience and product purpose. Validates design decisions based on research outcomes while identifying data gaps and collecting missing information. Analyzes findings to drive informed recommendations that support teams and enhance the user experience.
  • Develops sophisticated design concepts that align with user research and business requirements. Creates wireframes, mockups, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes to explore and communicate design ideas. Relies on expert storytelling and presentation skills to advocate for design perspectives and influence stakeholders including senior leadership and executives. Manages design dependencies or overlapping projects, addresses edge cases, resolves issues across teams, and refines designs based on feedback, user testing results, and evolving project requirements. 
  • Performs complex-to-highly-complex design work to support design projects. Leads collaboration with product teams, managers, and stakeholders to define project requirements and develop solutions while focusing on highly complex or ambiguous projects. Applies strong acumen to build business cases for design solutions and align them with user experience strategies. Leads team discussions, planning sessions, and design reviews to optimize products, processes, and workflows. Manages stakeholder relationships confidently through effective communication while ensuring designs meet user needs and business requirements.
  • Leads testing and refinement of layouts, user interfaces, interaction patterns, and system components to ensure consistency and quality across design stages. Guides less experienced team members on design processes, approaches, and tool selection. Supports the evolution of design systems by evaluating and updating components to promote scalability and reusability. Ensures clear documentation guidelines are set and followed.
  • Drives post-launch evaluations by guiding the collection of feedback, analysis of performance data, and execution of usability and A/B testing. Leads teams in identifying usability issues and formulating design solutions to address them. Evaluates the impact and effectiveness of design work using data to measure success, reduce design debt, and enhance future outcomes. Ensures high quality and reliability through overall quality control of design work.
  • Collaborates with product managers and senior leadership to align strategic plans and roadmaps with overall direction for user experience. Sets the vision for assigned projects and contributes to the overall user experience strategy. Leads sprints, workshops or other processes to define and refine strategic vision. Guides implementation of features and functionality to bring strategic vision to life and meet user experience needs.
  • Supervises, guides, coaches, and manages the performance of direct reports. Delivers regular feedback and supports professional development. Relies on proven skill in employee engagement to foster a high-performance culture where excellence is standard and innovation is actively encouraged.
  • Advances design skills and stays updated on trends, tools, and best practices in user experience while regularly sharing new insights with team. Handles feedback effectively and fosters an open mindset within the team. Responds to changes and challenges with resilience and helps team members navigate change. Mentors and coaches less experienced team members and serves as a SME.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum five years of experience required in user experience (UX) design, product design, or related field.
  • Experience in a people leader or management role preferred while leading teams on medium to complex digital products.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Develops and delivers effective presentations. using strong storytelling skills.

Physical Actions

Job is performed in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. The physical work environment is indoors and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Normal and customary distractions include background noise produced by office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions. Frequently sits for prolonged periods of time, up to a full shift. Occasionally moves about the workplace including, navigating stairs, ramps, and level or uneven surfaces. Occasionally moves, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and/or places objects or materials weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Frequently uses shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate equipment, tools, and objects necessary to perform job duties. Frequently performs fine motor tasks such as typing, mousing, or writing, up to a full shift. Rarely performs movements such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead or below the knees. Possesses clear vision, with or without correction, to visually read and verify information. Relies on depth perception and peripheral vision to navigate the work environment visually by identifying barriers, changes in terrain and locating objects. Possesses adequate hearing, with or without correction, to communicate with co-workers, respond promptly to auditory signals or alarms, and discern sounds essential for maintaining safety and productivity in the workplace.
