Workplace: Hybrid/Remote depending on location

Our hybrid work environment combines the best of both worlds with at least three (3) days in office and up to two (2) days virtual for employees who live within fifty (50) miles of a Farmers corporate office. Job Summary
The Litigation Management Counsel is responsible for direct communications with the Company regarding evaluations and recommendations relating to complex and high exposure litigation against the Company. Litigation Management Counsel also coordinates and oversees outside counsel in trial and appellate work and is accountable for evaluating, assessing, designing and implementing litigation strategy in collaboration with defense counsel as well as assuring the litigation against the Company is handled in a consistent, efficient and effective manner. The Litigation Management Counsel assists handling attorneys on matters of procedure and substantive law including, pleadings, discovery matters, and policy coverage questions.
Essential Job Functions
- Works closely with the Company to assess litigation for extra contractual exposure and to educate Claims personnel on legal issues related to Claims practices.
- Reports on trends and provides recommendations related to the litigation managed.
- Consulting with claims personnel on selected claims
- Responsible for completing evaluations and investigations on complex and high exposure cases.
- Identifies areas and issues which may give rise to exposure to the Company.
- Also recommends strategies and settlements in complex litigated matters and attends litigation conferences, arbitration hearings, settlement conferences and trials.
- Monitors outside counsel to ensure adherence to litigation plans.
- Works with assigned outside legal counsel to ensure litigation against the Company is handled in accordance with the objectives of the litigation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

o Albany County: $119,920 - $164,890
