Our hybrid work environment combines the best of both worlds with at least three (3) days in office and up to two (2) days virtual for employees who live within fifty (50) miles of a Farmers corporate office. Job Summary
- This position performs a variety of both incoming and outgoing mailroom functions for the National Document Center (NDC).
- The role handles incoming mail, outgoing mail, document scanning and document retention and may also be cross trained to provide support to other NDC functions.
- Performs work with supervision and follows established guidelines.
- This is a one-year contract position
Essential Job Functions
- Creates envelope copies for regulatory compliance.
- Prepares batches of documents for scanning, utilizing minimum 20 batch types and follows detailed processes for document separation and handling.
- Uploads electronic copies of documents to repositories.
- Manages systems equipment related to document storage and retrieval.
- Processes original document retrieval requests.
- Responsible for all aspects of the process to securely destroy documents when they reach the end of their retention period.
- Produces batch header and patch code sheets upon request.
- Prepares outbound mailings by printing and sorting documents, inserting requested forms or checks, and generating cover sheets.
- Utilizes shipping software and equipment to weigh mail and generate shipping labels with various carriers.
- Opens and sorts mail from minimum 35 post office boxes according to various handling rules.
- Utilizes loading dock to receive inbound street mail and shipments.
- Scans in trackable mail.
- Scans inbound packages and delivers to the appropriate recipient.
- Responsible for operating, cleaning, and maintaining high speed scanning equipment.
- Participates in user acceptance and other testing relating to updates to scanning and other software.
- Handles ad hoc requests for the claims organization, including facilitating the notarization of documents, obtaining wet signatures, and other services.
- Completes minimal reports as needed.

- Frequently uses shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate equipment, tools, and objects necessary to perform job duties.
- Occasionally performs fine motor tasks such as typing, mousing or writing.
- Frequently performs movements such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and reaching overhead or below the knees.
- Possesses clear vision, with or without correction, to visually read and verify information. Relies on depth perception and peripheral vision to navigate the work environment visually by identifying barriers, changes in terrain and locating objects.
- Possesses adequate hearing, with or without correction, to communicate with co-workers, respond promptly to auditory signals or alarms, and discern sounds essential for maintaining safety and productivity in the workplace.
- Jobs in this category require rare, if any, travel.
Physical Environment
- Job is performed at an assigned Farmers office and workspace. The physical work environment is indoors and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Potential exposures include working around machinery, mechanical equipment or tools, and chemical substances. Normal and customary distractions include background noise produced by office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Requirements
- One year of general work experience preferred.
- Prior mail room experience preferred.
Additional Qualification
- Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to multitask with strong hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to build rapport, foster trust, and create a positive team environment.
