Job Summary

Responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative competitive, market and industry research and analysis to influence strategic initiatives, decisions and goals. Maintains a constant pulse on technological and competitive trends in the market and will leverage this research to inform our business strategy, to deliver a competitive advantage for the business.

Essential Job Functions

Researches market and competitor strategies and trends. Acts as a resource to business leaders and other key stakeholders on the com petitive landscape within the industry. Proactively builds awareness of key competitive actions with internal stakeholders. Develops and implements procedures for identifying needs of the business. Executes on competitive intelligence initiatives and presents output to senior leadership across the business. Conducts in depth analysis to identify, benchmark, and compare competitor products, underwriting, distribution models and operational structure. Seeks and provides information to help determine Farmers' position in the marketplace, and develops proposals in order to drive product and profitability into new and existing markets. Compares and contrasts Farmers business to the competition in order to provide impact assessments and recommendations to improve our market position. Creates analyses of competitor financial results, period reporting, competitor profiles, and/or other ad hoc competitive requests. Supports project-specific research, helps maintain a competitive intelligence monitoring platform. Continually seeks to identify new analyses, data, or competitive information to support key stakeholders in the organization. Conducts research on consumer opinions and competitive strategies, collaborating with marketing professionals, statisticians, analysts, and other professionals. Develops strategies and recommendations to capitalize on market opportunities. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to understand strategy and pain points, ensuring competitive content is strategically aligned and impactful. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience Requirements

5-7 years experience required in competitive intelligence and/or market research preferably within the life insurance market.
