Job Summary

 As a critical leader within the Distribution, Marketing, and Service Operations Data & Analytics organization, the Principal Data & Analytics Leader will be responsible for enabling organizational customer centricity to drive business growth by providing visibility and connectivity to a central, cohesive view of lead and customer characteristics, relationships and activity across brands, lines of business, and channels. Strong data management services are critical in empowering Farmers to identify, understand, and engage leads and customers in its strategic drive to personalized customer experience. This vision will be achieved through the maturation of master data, customer analytics, customer preference management, lead management, and the digital capture of customer and agent engagement.  

 

The Principal Data & Analytics Leader is responsible for partnering and collaborating with various cross-functional teams and business units across the enterprise, including Customer Experience, Enterprise Marketing, Distribution, Service Operations, P&C, and Business Insurance. The individual will keep current with trends and issues in the data management and machine learning industry, including current technologies. The individual will advise, counsel, and educate management on their competitive or financial impact, manage large scale strategic data initiatives, and support data strategy formulation and implementation. The individual will drive data and analytic strategy, development and implementation of highly complex data and analytic products to drive business decisions, customer/agent experience, profitability and growth. Reviews enterprise wide specialized initiatives related to data and analytic efforts, including data governance. Leads a team handling the implementation of data solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Establish data strategies, determining approach, inform architecture design, and working across the business collaboratively to advise and manage operational customer master data, leads data management, preference management, and digital agent/customer behavior tracking and analytics.
  • Drive the evolution of Leads and Customer data vision and strategy in collaboration with Enterprise Data Organization leadership, stakeholders, in support of Farmers business strategy.
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to drive growth, deliver superior customer experience and realize operational efficiencies.
  • Oversee Master Data Management solutions and related operational and analytics data stores, including project and release delivery, testing, and systems maintenance and operations.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, managing budget, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future systems.
  • Ensure that initiatives are achieved by the team with clear project schedules, key milestones, and managing roadblocks and issues.
  • Evolve measures and monitoring practices for delivery and operational excellence and continuous improvement through the adoption of DataOps, cloud platforms and AI.

What You'll Do (continued)

  • Leads a team who provides ongoing support, maintenance and modification of existing specialized data products or solutions and the flow of data relating to enterprise applications. Oversees the collection and reporting of specialized, highly complex data to outside organizations. Considered an expert in strategy concepts and regularly coaches individuals in this area.
  • Leads efforts to define highly complex, specialized solutions and manage the overall development effort, either individually or leading multiple teams. Creates strategic plans and translates plans to action for individuals or teams within their span of control or teams across three or more business domains. Enables continuous improvement opportunities at an enterprise level.
  • Consults, manages or executes on data efforts of increased complexity, to understand data, analytic or data governance requirements and existing business processes to lead in the design, development, implementation or management of data products. Ensures code, current architectural patterns, data and analytic principles and data governance guidelines are adhered to during execution. Shares innovative ideas in Data Analytics to leadership that may be domain specific or functional in nature. Works as an individual, with individuals or small teams to apply data, analytic or data governance concepts to projects or programs. Executes on large, complex projects within timelines.

Experience You'll Bring

  • Ten years of related experience is required with an emphasis in IT on Data Management and Master Data Management, preferred.
  • Four years of experience in Master Data Management, preferred. 
  • Five years of experience in financial services/insurance, preferred. 

Education You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree is required.  
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science or other technical degree, is preferred. 

Additional Qualifications You'll Need

  • Must be able to travel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude.
  • Experience in dimensional modeling, BI visualizations and pipeline orchestration.
  • Moderate understanding of statistical concepts and advanced analytic capabilities.
  • Basic familiarity and understanding of cloud computing environments.
  • Understanding of Data Governance practices and principles.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Experience interacting with executive and senior leadership around the topics of data access, quality, appropriate use, metric definitions and standardization.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Effectively coaches and delivers constructive feedback.

Physical Actions

This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

    o NY Only: $154,720 - $239,000 
             o Albany County: $169,200 - $211,500 
    o WA Only:  $158,640 - $282,750
