Job Summary

Project Manager II is responsible for managing the overall execution of new, fast-paced, diverse, critical, strategic projects from initiation through post-implementation, primarily focusing on quality, cost, and schedule. These projects involve significant return and risk to the company, have approved budgets (IT and/or business), include multiple functions/departments, involve major IT efforts, impact agents and customers (directly or indirectly), and contain complex business, legal or regulatory issues. They can also involve multiple phases or work streams within the project. Position involves managing direct staff as assigned. May have Project Managers reporting up within a matrix reporting structure, as part of a project team. This position requires interaction with executives and other personnel throughout the organization, an understanding of business and strategy across the enterprise, and a focus on strong leadership, critical thinking, facilitating issue resolution and timely decision making.

About the role...

  • Integrate all team members and multi-functional departments, to ensure collaboration and alignment, with occasional guidance from leadership and peers.
  • Develop comprehensive project, timeline, communication, and change management plans.
  • Effectively manage or mitigate project issues and risk.
  • Manages all aspects of a medium scale (up to $10MM in budget) or a local aspect of a global project, including schedule, financials, and deliverables.
  • Responsible for project planning, monitoring, and reporting with key project metrics.
  • Coordinates delivery of work from all parties involved.
  • Tracks project spend rate and budget projections.

What you'll accomplish

  • Integrates all team members and departments to ensure they are cooperating and working together to execute the program Forms project teams, including its reporting/organizational structure, and defines roles and responsibilities for each of the team members.
  • Measures results in minimizing conflicts among team members and the capability of the team to pull together and support each other's efforts as required.
  • Develop and construct project plans.
  • Plans will consist of task lists, Gantt charts, and other necessary planning documents.
  • Plans should be well thought out, actionable, reasonable and professionally presented.
  • Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of the project to limit unnecessary change and expansion.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in a project management environment preferably in a personal/commercial insurance.

Special Skill Requirement

  • Project or equivalent Project Management software, MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Proven skills managing project teams in matrix organization reporting structure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure 'buy-in' and convince others regarding best approach.
  • Goal oriented team player with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong relationship building.

Physical Actions

Job is performed in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. The physical work environment is indoors and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Normal and customary distractions include background noise produced by office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions. Frequently sits for prolonged periods of time, up to a full shift. Occasionally moves about the workplace including, navigating stairs, ramps, and level or uneven surfaces. Occasionally moves, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and/or places objects or materials weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Frequently uses shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate equipment, tools, and objects necessary to perform job duties. Frequently performs fine motor tasks such as typing, mousing, or writing, up to a full shift. Rarely performs movements such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead or below the knees. Possesses clear vision, with or without correction, to visually read and verify information. Relies on depth perception and peripheral vision to navigate the work environment visually by identifying barriers, changes in terrain and locating objects. Possesses adequate hearing, with or without correction, to communicate with co-workers, respond promptly to auditory signals or alarms, and discern sounds essential for maintaining safety and productivity in the workplace. Jobs in this category require rare, if any, travel.
