Job Summary

  • Farmers is seeking an analytics-focused product manager/internal consultant to join the Distribution Analytic Solutions group as a Consultant, Analytic Solutions.
  • Candidates should be excited to help drive Farmers growth through the use of data and analytics.
  • Leverages specific business segment, function and process knowledge using an understanding of business data and advanced analytics to identify ways to improve profitable growth.
  • Collaboratively plans, develops, tests, implements and monitors predictive or prescriptive analytics solutions to strategic business problems to drive future innovation.
  • Works collaboratively with manager and team to determine use cases, work with business and IT counterparts and execute against strategy and approach needed to effectively monitor the performance of implemented solutions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop advanced analytical solutions to strategic business problems (with a focus on profitable growth) by leveraging knowledge of consumers/agent behavior, processes, data, future needs, market intelligence, and advanced analytics best practices.
  • Engage and work closely with business stakeholders to develop solutions in alignment with the corresponding business strategy
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders, data scientists, and Information Technology colleagues to plan and effectively execute initiatives through the analytic lifecycle. Effectively manage and communicate initiative scope, risks and issues, stakeholder expectations, and business value realization for initiatives.
  • Execute post-implementation monitoring.  Communicate the ongoing business benefit impact as well as advanced analytic solution tracking for assigned analytical projects and act on insights from monitoring
  • Leverage human centered design principles to innovate and solve business problem.
  • Effectively communicate and present the results of predictive and prescriptive analytical solutions to model acceptors, key stakeholders, and business leaders through presentations.
  • Contributes input into the prioritization of program backlog, coordinates dependencies and manages the inspection and evaluation of product progress.
  •  Acts as product manager within Agile team(s) who utilizes perspective to define iteration goals and drives execution and delivery with the ability to influence stakeholders. Partners with the business owner to understand needs, manage scope and add/eliminate user stories.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor (preferably advanced degree) in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or other quantitative fields.
  •  Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Product Manager Certified (obtained within 180 days of hire) required.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in an Agile environment or 3-5 years in a project environment required. 1-3 years leadership experience preferred.
  • 4-8 years of analytics, technology, and/or insurance operations experience preferred. 

Special Skill Requirement

  • Analytics Solution Implementation: Can develop solutions for singular IT implementations working with IT partners
  • Programming: Intermediate to advanced programming abilities (SQL, Python or R)
  • Data Profiling: Can leverage ETL to succeed with modestly complex  data pulls; can design simple data structures
  • Excel: advanced use including Macros
  • BI Tools: intermediate to advanced skills (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • Data Analysis: intermediate statistical data analysis
  • Agile: has understanding of agile development practices
  • Business process/data flow mapping: Can develop business process maps and process understanding
  • Communication: Can present in cross-department meetings clearly and concisely, handle Q&A well
  • Presentation: Can develop PowerPoint storytelling presentations with technical/business details for sr. executives
  • Project Management: Can develop analytics project plans and execute independently
  •  Strategic Decision Making: Can make decisions on project details
  • Possesses strong product knowledge: Possesses strong business and functional knowledge in the supported value stream based on prior experience.
