Job Summary

Oversees Internal Control over Financial Reporting at Farmers; Serves as a Regional Coordinator to Zurich for FMS, Farmers Re and FNWL, Oversees compliance of all NAIC/DOI Model Audit Rule regulations at Farmers; Responsible for ensuring that ICFR Control Activities and Managerial Review of Control Activities are Validated to ensure accuracy of reported evaluations; prepares departmental budgets.

Essential Job Functions

Serves as the Consolidated Regional Coordinator to Zurich for FMS, Farmers Re and FNWL to ensure Farmers is and continues to operate in a consistent manner with Zurich ICFR Core team guidelines. Serves to ensure that Farmers for the Life Company and Exchanges is in compliant with the NAIC/ DOI’s Model Audit Rule, including but not limited to the documentation, self assessment and testing guidelines. Designs standard practices for the ICFR Framework to ensure that the annual Re-scoping efforts ensure all material accounts, as defined by the Framework or regulated body are documented and evaluated from a Control perspective. Oversees the Quarterly Process Owner Sign-off process to ensure that it is completed on time, accurately and efficiently, and that both the CERTUS and ICFR Database are kept current in the following respects, but not limited to, employee names and Design and Operational effectiveness status. Oversees the research, development and completion of various Company-wide initiatives to ensure that all ICFR requirements are included within the Scope of the projects. Responsible for ensuring standard practices are established to maximize ICFR Validation of Control Activities and Managements Review of Control Activities. Utilizing finance background and financial systems knowledge, manage the development/ creation of new tools for Finance and the Business to improve their operations through potential efficiencies, timely and accurate information and/or insight & analytics. Oversees the preparation, explanation and release of the departmental budget as requested by the Budget department. Manages Corporate Financial Governance activities with other departments and performs other duties as assigned. Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA, CMA, MBA, Masters or similar preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Experience Requirements

External candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of prior audit and controls experience including 2 year as a Supervisor or Manager. The same time-on-job requirement is preferred for internal candidates.

Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
