Integration Architect (MuleSoft) - Remote

Job Summary

Designs and develops IT architecture strategy, standards and roadmap while creating Enterprise architecture delivery (integrated process, applications, data and technology) in alignment with Enterprise architecture vision and direction. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in Enterprise Architecture or related field. Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and IT Program Managers to enhance existing business applications and facilitate solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Assist in architecting technical solutions for enterprise systems using the MuleSoft product suite and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Design patterns for building middleware systems ground up using Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIPs) like message routing, content enrichment, message filtering, message transformation, guaranteed delivery, message sequencing, batch message processing, error handling and reconciliation mechanisms.
  • Create the high-level design of integration solutions and guide implementation teams on the choice of MuleSoft components and patterns to use in the detailed design and implementation.
  • Advise technical teams on performance, scalability, reliability, monitoring, and other operational concerns of integration solutions on the Anypoint platform. 
  • Design reusable assets, components, standards, frameworks, and processes to support and facilitate API and integration projects. 
  • Ensures self and development team adheres to documented design and development patterns and standards. 
  • Assist on technical proofs of concept (POCs) to prove out technology and ultimately leading into scalable solution.
  • Review conceptual architecture document by participate in Architecture review board meetings.
  • Evaluate and revise new/existing technology standards by participate in technology governance board meetings.
  • Define partner integration strategy and enable partner portals to drive new growth opportunities.

Additional Job Functions

  • Define strategy and road map for Enterprise content management system (Document Inbound, Outbound and storage).
  • Define roadmap for low code/no code platforms.
  • Provide architecture support to Office 365 suite of products.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • One or more of the following:
    • Mulesoft Certified Platform Architect 
    • Mulesoft Certified Integration Architect Certified
    • SAFe Agile Architect Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.

Experience Requirements

Key technical skills include five or more years’ experience in:

  • Design and implementing integration projects.
  • Anypoint Platform, Flow Design, API Design, Cloudhub, and API Management.
  • API Strategy development and microservices architectures.
  • Developing, deploying, and managing flows (i.e. Anypoint Studio, CloudHub).
  • Prior architect experience with multiple complex deployments involving MuleSoft. 
  • Enterprise integration design patterns.
  • 3rd Party MuleSoft Anypoint Connectors.
  • Salesforce integrations. 
  • MuleSoft On-Premise and Cloud solutions. 
  • Message queue design patterns. 
  • Cloud/SaaS applications, APIs, SDK of packaged applications and legacy applications. 
  • Designing, developing, securing, and managing APIs via API Gateways and proxies. 
  • Agile, Scrum and iterative development practices.
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Special Skill Requirement

  • Providing strategy/roadmap for help Office365 suite of products (Share Point, One Drive, MS Power Apps, Power Automate, Clarity, etc), a plus.
  • Content management platforms (i.e. Filetnet, BOX,Trexo, Data CAP), a plus.
  • ETL platforms (i.e. Informatica), a plus. 
  • Messaging platforms (i.e. Kafka, MQMQ, IBMMQ), a plus.

Additional Qualification

  • Exceptional communication skills with diverse audiences - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong project skills, including the ability to drive multiple projects and initiatives in several departments at once.
  • The ability to be the enterprise integration subject matter expert who can explain technical topics to those without a technical background.


  • Farmers offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications and location
  • Colorado Only: The pay range for this job being performed in Colorado would be 133,040-177,300.
  • New York City, NY/Westchester County, NY Only: The pay range for this job being performed in NYC or Westchester County, NY would be 164,400-205,500.
