Personal Lines Product Manager I, II, Senior

Job Summary

Responsible for managing all aspects of their product within Personal Lines. Assesses profitability, growth, competitors, strategies, and initiates changes to the product or rating approach in the territory in order to maximize Farmers’ opportunities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for profits/losses in assigned product/territory.
  • Develops long- and short-term plans for their assigned product/territory with corresponding State Executives.
  • Directs development of pricing and contract changes for product. Manages the analysis and research performed in the development of their product and its alignment others.
  • Works with IT to develop requirements for system enhancements.
  • Communicates with regulators on complex filing issues.
  • Develops and recommends operations, service, claims, and market standards.
  • Stays abreast of industry developments.
  • Negotiates and sets priorities to align product goals with the State Executives’ goals. Recruits, trains and develops product analysts Coordinates state and home office legislative and regulatory affairs providing input on key bills and regulation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Actions

Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing, and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs maximum, and seeing.

Physical Environment

Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required preferably in mathematical or statistical field. Graduate degree preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Mathematical or Statistical experience.
  • 3-10 years experience in similar role, or Graduate degree and five years experience in similar role Extensive experience with advanced insurance pricing concepts, strategy and insurance terms/structure.
  • Thorough knowledge of pricing and insurance products

Special Skill Requirement

  • Proficient PC Skills, including Excel, Access, SAS, Word and basic programming for statistical purposes.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including ability to make effective presentations and write articles publishable in trade magazines.
  • Achieve minimum passing score on logical reasoning analytical aptitude exam



Candidate qualifications may be reviewed against the requirements for the associated levels of this position's core function. As such, this position may be SG37, SG38 or SG39. Salary grade will be based on selected candidates' experience and skills.
