Job Summary

Acts as a servant leader and coach for one or more Agile Release Train (ART) and applies Lean-Agile thinking to optimizing the execution of an ART at the program level. Focuses on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the organization through facilitating ART events including big room planning, program increment planning, system demo, and inspect & adapt. Leads team to create a culture and process to support continuous exploration driving the synthesis of ART's vision, roadmap and backlog. Holds a key role in the successful delivery of end- to-end value through ARTs at the enterprise level by eliminating impediments, managing risks, and implementing best practices. Builds and maintains partnerships with key stakeholders and customers at all levels to assist in managing, informing and influencing outcomes. Aids in coaching and assisting in mentoring RTE I. Provides oversight, direction and leadership to direct reports.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partners with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders ensure work aligns with the business strategy, vision and roadmap. Manages and optimizes the flow of value through the ART by reinforcing the Lean-Agile principles and through various tools including the Program Kanban. Identifies root causes impeding the flow of work and drive the resolution with full transparency and support of impacted parties.
  • Defines the key performance indicators aligning to the business/IT objectives used to track and monitor the execution and delivery of the ART. Tracks flow of value involved in post sprint activities including migrations, implementation, shakeouts, post production validations and/or issues. Identifies and manages risks and dependencies; detects, communicates, and resolves program-level roadblocks for one or more ARTs.
  • Utilizes a strong understanding of business landscape, including core business processes and functions while making sound decisions with limited help of more senior RTE's or leadership to determine appropriate action. Assists with economic decision-making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary. Improves the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the DevOps and Release on Demand competency.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions,noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified RTE within 180 days of hire required.
  • Certified Advanced Safe Scrum Master preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in Release Train Engineer I role or 5-7 years in Scrum Master or similar role required.
  • 1-3 years leadership experience required.

Additional Qualification

  • The working hours for this position will be in Eastern time zone. 


  • Farmers offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications and location
  • Colorado Only: The pay range for this job being performed in CO would be 104,500- 139,100
