Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Summary

Agile Dev Team Members have collective responsibility for the design, development, testing and/or deployment of system functionality. Agile Dev Team Member IV with primarily a development discipline provides technical feasibility using a range of coding methods and adheres to coding standards to ensure consistent style and format. Ensures systems are high in code and component quality, and are easily modified to support future requirements with support and limited guidance of more senior developers or architects. Agile Dev Team Member IV with primarily a testing discipline ensures the end product meets the business acceptance criteria and non -functional requirements. Defines and executes tests early, often, and at multiple levels depending on their level of experience. Based on their business products, processes and system knowledge, they provide broad level of thinking for exceptions and other unexpected ways users may interact with systems. Utilizes intermediate testing techniques and tools.

Essential Job Functions

You have a passion for testing with development skillset. You have experience with Web automation and/or mobile testing. You can build and maintain UI automation framework from scratch by using Selenium. You can build and maintain test automation framework for APIs. You can design, develop, deploy and maintain automated test suites. You develop clean, high-quality and reusable codes based on programming standards. Get excited in exploring and finding creative way to build test automation. You have exposure to setting up CI/CD pipelines for test automation. You have knowledge of software test design and testing methodologies. You enjoy working in an agile development process with frequent releases. You are open to learn new business domain, new ideas and build test automation around it. You like collaborating with multiple stakeholders, Developers, Product Owners in pursuit of ensuring product quality. You write reliable, readable tests which are fully documented. You write clear and detail defect report when things break and work with team for its resolution. You take ownership and responsibilities for your deliverables. You love problem solving and exploring alternative techniques. You have a good communication and presentation skills. You are able to grasp difficult concepts and complex designs and stay on top of new and emerging technologies.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science is prefered. 
  • SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist Certification within 180 days of hire required.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as SDET with automation tools such as Selenium, SoapUI, Postman, Appium or others
  • 5+ years of experience in architecting, designing, building and delivering scalable automation frameworks, test suites and solutions for QA automation testing.
  • SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist Certification within 180 days of hire required.  

Special Skill Requirement

  • 5+ years proficiency in writing code for automation using Java.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software QA/Testing and SDLC methodology.
  • 5+ years of experience in creating robust, reusable test automation solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in testing REST, Web APIs or SOAP APIs and Cloud services automation testing.
  • Expertise in test automation framework using Selenium WebDriver.
  • Configuration Management Tool experience in Git and GitHub.
  • Experience with TestNG framework, Gradle/Maven.
  • Well versed in Page Object model and Data Driven framework.
  • Building CI/CD automation pipelines using Jenkins and Docker.
  • Experience with RDBMS like Oracle, My SQL and NoSQL Database like Mango DB.

Additional Qualification

  • Experience in Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development and Exploratory testing.
  • Ability to stitch together a series of tools and technologies to facilitate automated end-to-end testing.
  • Automated test data setup and/or generation.
  • Familiarity with cloud test execution platforms like AWS Cloud or any other.
  • Exposure to Agile Methodology and CA Rally or any other.
  • Experience in Insurance Industry, Guidewire and Salesforce are preferred.
  • Experience with system reliability, objective quality results and quality metrics.
  • Familiarity with Robotic Process Automation using UI Path.
  • Familiarity with Service Virtualization for Automation testing using CA DevTest or any other.
