Job Summary

This position facilitates creation of user-centered design solutions that enable business success and user satisfaction. The role applies advanced user experience principles and collaborates with teams to ensure designs align with business objectives and user needs. The position contributes to design lifecycle processes from research to implementation to enhance user interactions. The role performs complex design work to develop and maintain design systems that prioritize consistency, quality, and functionality. The position is an individual contributor who works independently with limited guidance while advancing design capabilities and contributing to design team effectiveness.

 

We have 2 positions available.   UX Designer and Sr. UX Designer.  Candidate qualifications may be reviewed against the requirements for the associated levels of this position's core function.  

What You'll Do

  • Conducts research through contextual interviews, surveys, A/B tests, usability activities, data analysis, and competitive evaluations to understand user behaviors, motivations, and pain points. Identifies and clarifies the target audience and product goals in collaboration with research teams. Validates design decisions based on research outcomes. Analyzes findings and uses data insights to make informed recommendations for the user experience.
  • Develops complex design concepts based on user research and business requirements. Creates wireframes, mockups, high- fidelity designs, and prototypes to explore and communicate design ideas. Relies on advanced storytelling and presentation skills to convey design concepts and rationale to stakeholders while providing context and compelling narrative. Anticipates and resolves design dependencies across teams or projects, addresses edge cases, and aligns design decisions with user needs and business goals. Refines designs based on feedback, user testing results, and evolving project requirements.
  • Performs complex design work to support design projects. Collaborates with product teams, managers, and stakeholders to define project requirements and develop solutions. Connects design work to broader business objectives and design strategies and works with appropriate urgency. Engages in team discussions, planning sessions, and design reviews to enhance products, processes, and workflows. Aligns product teams and stakeholders to ensure designs meet user needs and business requirements. Keeps stakeholders informed on goals, expectations, and timelines throughout the design process. Leads meetings effectively and presents with polish and confidence.
  • Tests and refines layouts, user interfaces, interaction patterns, and system components to ensure consistency and quality. Supports the evolution of design systems by evaluating and updating components to promote scalability and reusability. Ensures clear and concise documentation and specifications to enable seamless implementation and guide development processes. Collaborates with copywriters to create clear and concise copy for design elements.
  • Conducts post-launch design evaluation by gathering feedback, analyzing performance data, and performing usability testing and A/B testing. Identifies usability issues and recommends remedial design solutions to address them. Evaluates the impact and effectiveness of design work using data to measure success, reduce design debt, and enhance future outcomes. Collaborates with product managers and senior team members to provide input on strategic plans, roadmaps, and overall direction for user experience. Organizes sprints or other processes to refine strategic vision when needed. Facilitates implementation of features and functionality to bring strategic vision to life and meet user experience needs. 
  • Seeks opportunities to advance design skills by staying informed on trends, tools, and best practices in user experience. Accepts and incorporates feedback to improve performance and work quality while knowing when to change direction or stay the course. Responds to changes and challenges with resilience and helps team members navigate change. Deepens knowledge of the business, company, and users. Mentors less experienced team members to develop skills while providing feedback they seek and value. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

Sr. UX Designer:

  • Minimum three years of experience required in user experience (UX) design, product design, or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience required in designing transactional enterprise systems.

 

UX Designer:

  • Minimum two years of experience required in user experience (UX) design, product design, or related field.
  • Experience preferred in designing transactional enterprise systems.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. Possesses in-depth knowledge of user experience (UX), product design, interaction design, and design systems including in-depth knowledge of usability and user-centered design principles. Knowledge of agile design methodologies preferred.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and product management tools/systems. Advanced proficiency with design tools such as Figma or similar, research and analytics platforms, and basic front-end development concepts. Able to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated project management skills. including proven product management skills. 
  • Develops and delivers effective presentations. using strong storytelling skills. 

Physical Actions

Job is performed in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. The physical work environment is indoors and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Normal and customary distractions include background noise produced by office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions. Frequently sits for prolonged periods of time, up to a full shift. Occasionally moves about the workplace including, navigating stairs, ramps, and level or uneven surfaces. Occasionally moves, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and/or places objects or materials weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Frequently uses shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate equipment, tools, and objects necessary to perform job duties. Frequently performs fine motor tasks such as typing, mousing, or writing, up to a full shift. Rarely performs movements such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead or below the knees. Possesses clear vision, with or without correction, to visually read and verify information. Relies on depth perception and peripheral vision to navigate the work environment visually by identifying barriers, changes in terrain and locating objects. Possesses adequate hearing, with or without correction, to communicate with co-workers, respond promptly to auditory signals or alarms, and discern sounds essential for maintaining safety and productivity in the workplace.
