Job Summary
- Administers, and communicates benefit policies and procedures to participants of the Agent Benefits program.
- Investigates and resolves complaints and issues, including coordination with carriers for traditional and non-traditional benefit plans.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to assigned plans and answers inquiries on benefit eligibility and plan coverages by agents, district managers, agency staff, carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of other non-traditional benefit plans including Errors and Omissions, deferred compensation, and the Fidelity Bond.
- Performs regular audits of benefit enrollments, eligibility, and plan administration to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements and identifies areas for process improvement.
- Be comfortable working with technology, including various software applications and online platforms, to manage, analyze, and communicate benefit information efficiently and effectively.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages the administration, daily operations and procedures involved with the less complex benefits plans.
- Acts as a liaison between participants, carriers, vendors, brokers and third-party administrators on participant claims related to complaints and problems.
- Researches and communicates current plan provisions, coverage questions, claims and eligibility issues, policies and practices to participants, territory offices, carriers, and third-party administrator.
- Maintains the day-to-day operations and manages midyear enrollment process for assigned plans.
- Handles inquires from incoming call center and Agent Benefits email box relating to assigned plans.
- Independently addresses folio questions, resolves basic issues and makes necessary corrections such as benefit deduction and/or commission statement discrepancies.
- Evaluates and recommends appropriate plan improvements and cost containment based on statistical data for assigned plans.
- Continually reviews operations and procedures to develop methods of efficiency related to assigned plans.
- Utilizes various agent benefit systems such as MAP, Compass and e-folio to administer benefits, create reports and conduct audits.
- Reviews and audits folio and subsidy files for accuracy, and researches/adjusts benefit premiums as needed.
- Partners with brokers and carrier representatives during annual plan renewals and quarterly claim result reviews to evaluate performance of assigned plans.
- Develops communication materials for promotional events and annual enrollment for assigned plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of benefits and customer service experience.
- General knowledge of benefits administration practices required.
- Must be able to effectively manage stress and maintain a level-headed approach in challenging circumstances.
Special Skill Requirement
- Must be comfortable working with technology and possess extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Needs to be organized, detail-oriented, and analytical in approach to tasks.
- The candidate should demonstrate thoroughness and dependability in their work, ensuring accuracy and reliability in all aspects of benefit administration.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for success in this role.
- Must possess a general knowledge of accounting principles, including understanding of debits, credits, and ledger entries.
