Job Summary

Agile Dev Team Members have collective responsibility for the design, development, testing and/or deployment of system functionality. Agile Dev Team Member III with primarily a development discipline provides technical feasibility using a range of coding methods and adheres to coding standards to ensure consistent style and format. Ensures systems are high in code and component quality, and are easily modified to support future requirements with support and limited guidance of more senior developers or architects. Agile Dev Team Member III with primarily a testing discipline ensures the end product meets the business acceptance criteria and non -functional requirements. Defines and executes tests early, often, and at multiple levels depending on their level of experience. Based on their business products, processes and system knowledge, they provide broad level of thinking for exceptions and other unexpected ways users may interact with systems. Utilizes intermediate testing techniques and tools.

Essential Job Functions

Claims IT is looking for an Agile Application Developer.  The developer will be primarily working on supporting the ClaimCenter application and will have the opportunity to take the necessary Agile and Guidewire training to learn the platform and grow their skills.  The Agile Devleoper will be working in agile teams supporting the key strategic initiatives and future enhancements for Claims transformation. 

 

  • 2-4 years of development experience using Java or other object-oriented programming language.
  • Previous knowledge and demonstrated ability with scripting languages.
  • Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience with issue and tracking software such as Jira or Rally. 
  • Experience with source code management systems like Subversion, GITHub.
  • Experience with SQL queries and database access tools. 
  • Experience with XML technologies (XSD, XPath, XQuery, XSL, and XSLT).
  • Experience with SOAP and REST Web Services.
  • Preferred experience/knowledge of SAFe Agile development methodology.
  • Flexible in working under changing and different work settings.
  • Easily adaptable to various organization cultures.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, ceaseless energy and persistence to achieve goals working through challenges with appropriate support and mentoring.  
  • Promotes collaboration and teamwork.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist Certification within 180 days of hire required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year as a Agile Dev Team Member II or 5 + years in a related field required.

Special Skill Requirement

  • Develop and maintain Java/GOSU language application code within Guidewire Claims Center application.
  • Plan, design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate software for functional areas.
