Application Subject Matter Expert III *


Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert III to provide high level of expertise in the design and development of functionality of business applications and understand the business objectives and how best they can be supported by IT. Specific duties include: provide support for Document Processing System (DocProc) and its integration with other enterprise systems within Claims IT; integrate DocProc applications with Guidewire Claims Center (GWCC), FileNet P8, Box for Enterprise, and Smart Communications; review and validate the detailed technical design for DocProc applications provided by the supplier to ensure alignment with business requirements; estimate Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality; perform impact analysis of DocProc application changes across various components, holding an end-to-end view of the system; work with the Architecture team in driving architectural solutions for DocProc on need basis (e.g., Application architectural models, frameworks, middleware, etc.); perform quality review checks on software and documentation deliverables for DocProc; acts as liaison between Business and IT, as assigned; support users in building Business Case, including cost / benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high level plan; support the production implementation activities, troubleshooting system environmental issues, training as required; specify/recommend Integration, Performance and Parallel testing criteria; analyze and respond to application problem tickets, collaborate with development/COE support teams to define long-term solutions; and provide support to other IT systems/applications, such as GWCC, National Document Center (NDC), Claims Management Portal (CMP), INET, HPI, Prolaw and other dependent systems within the technology tower. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S.


Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of in the job offered, or as a Project Manager, Programmer Analyst, or similar position. Must have 5 years of experience with application development in Java/J2EE platform. Must also have 3 years of experience with each of the following: development in Smart Communications One; application integration using SOAP and REST web services; and software build tools ANT and Maven. Additionally, must have 2 years of experience with each of the following: JSP; Hibernate; Spring; JMS; JSON; HTML5; CSS 2.0; Log4J; Oracle database; and IBM Filenet P8. Specific experience must also include each of the following: Angular JS; Ext JS; integrating Java applications with Guidewire Claim Center; IBM WebSphere; Apache Tomcat; IBM MQ Series, source code version control tool GitHub; IDE Eclipse; and IBM RAD. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
