Job Summary

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Cloud Platform Engineer to provide expertise in the design and functionality of business applications that fulfills various financial reporting needs around key metrics associated with Premiums, Exposures and Enforce policy counts. Specific duties include: understanding customers’ business processes and products and how best they can be supported by the application systems; acting as a liaison between business and IT; providing input as to the architecture and design of business applications and defining project scope; designing and building solutions to support business needs; reviewing and validating the detailed technical design for business applications provided by the supplier; performing quality review checks on project deliverables; validating suppliers estimates; performing impact analysis of application changes across various components; estimating Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality; specifying /recommending integration and parallel testing criteria; supporting the implementation activities and troubleshooting system environmental issues; performing data modeling activities, ensuring compliance to corporate data standards and practices; implementing automation through application and infrastructure pipelines; serving as subject matter expert advisor to senior IT management, and mentoring junior level technical staff; assisting project managers as well as the business facing team with project onboarding; and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures. May work remote 40% of the time.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a DevOps Engineer, DevOps Support, DevOps/UI Developer, or similar position. In the alternative, will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a DevOps Engineer, DevOps Support, DevOps/UI Developer, or similar position. Must have 2 years of experience working with each of the following: git version control, git branching, and CI/CD practices; and developing infrastructure and configuration as code solutions, configuration management software. Must also have 1 year of experience reviewing Cyber Security requirements and demands as they relate to infrastructure provisioning and operations. Additionally, specific experience must include working with each of the following: variety of technology systems and designing solutions; enterprise infrastructure, automation and orchestration, continuous integration/deployment, and cloud-based delivery models; Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including agile and waterfall methodologies; discussing business needs, gathering requirements, and recommending solutions; interacting with systems and enterprise architects, executive and senior management stakeholders, business units, and developers; capacity planning and performance sizing; leading whiteboard discussions; presenting complex technological concepts clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences; public or private cloud service offerings; multiple programming and scripting languages; Lambda infrastructure, AWS security tools and applications; and platform design, implementation and operations in Cloud IaaS and PaaS environments. May work remote 40% of the time
