Job Summary
Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Decision Science Manager to provide critical decision support across the enterprise by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to address business challenges. Specific duties include: apply advanced mathematical, statistical, and quantitative techniques to solve business problems that significantly impact current and future business strategies (10%); build descriptive or explanatory models or use the output of models created by others (5%); stay informed about emerging decision and data science methodologies, tools, and best practices (5%); analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities (10%); leverage interactive data visualization tools and statistical techniques to uncover hidden insights (15%); apply knowledge and continuous learning to improve the quality of own work and the work of others as well as supervise, guide, coach, and manage the performance of direct reports (20%); lead discussions with cross-functional business partners and teams to understand and collaborate on complex business objectives and influence solution strategies and outcomes by leveraging in-depth knowledge of the business (10%); coordinate with cross-functional technical teams including IT, data scientists, data engineers and others to ensure data integrity and optimize data pipelines, identify data quality issues and collaborate to resolve them (10%); transform technical data insights into communications and presentations for nontechnical business partners and leadership (10%); and assist in deployment and monitoring of complex predictive models into workflows (5%). Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely 40% of the time.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Predictive Analytics Manager, Statistical Analyst, or similar predictive or prescriptive analytics position. In the alternative, will accepts a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Predictive Analytics Manager, Statistical Analyst, or similar predictive or prescriptive analytics position. Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: working in P&C insurance industry; applying predictive and prescriptive analytics techniques including predictive modeling, machine learning, simulation, and optimization; coding in languages C++, Python, and R; advanced work with SQL; using Git; and data visualization and dashboard creation using Tableau and PowerBI. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely 40% of the time.
