Job Summary

  • Provides New Ventures finance support by partnering with team members in developing and executing on business strategies and tactical operations to achieve overall company goals.
  • Supports the development of a strategic vision through financial and strategic plans; evaluates and analyzes progress towards this accomplishment.
  • Accountable for forecasting and projections of financial results; coordinates the development of the annual financial plan (P&L) for the business unit; recommends mitigating and enhancing strategies to drive financial performance.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manages the financial and accounting matters of New Ventures including the development of business and financial plans, forecasting, management of the budget.
  • Prepares internal and external financial reporting; production of monthly/quarterly management and board reports.
  • Oversees the overall financial control environment, assessing and implementing improvements to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in coordination with other enterprise finance business partners.
  • Serves as an internal consultant in identifying efficiency and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Provides all other finance sup port, including profitability analysis, cost/benefit analysis, return on investments, and other support.
  • Provides critical feedback on all business plans, initiatives and proposals to identify and mitigate risks and to fully exploit opportunities.
  • Makes key business decisions relevant to the financial outlook and provides recommendations via in-depth analysis of complex issues.
  • Takes initiative in developing and implementing new complex and comprehensive methods and tools to provide better understanding of the financial implications of suggested recommendations.
  • Presents complex ideas and concepts to internal and external customers in a professional, convincing and credible manner.
  • Creates timely performance plans and evaluations for direct staff with the goal of developing technical and professional capabilities.
  • Monitors insurance industry trends and developments; tracks industry results and monitors strategic and financial results of specific competitor companies.
  • Benchmarks company results to industry, specific competitor groups, and internal benchmarks; researches insurance industry related topics, as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. CPA, CMA, MBA, Masters degree or similar degree preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of prior Accounting or Finance experience required. 1-3 years previous leadership experience required.
