Job Summary

The Guidewire Policy Center Analyst will work with a team of Business and IT stakeholders to write business requirements and acceptance criteria, review and validate the technical design for business applications, perform impact analysis across application components by holding an end-to-end view of the system, estimate rough order of magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality. The job requires an understanding of business processes and products and how best they can be supported by the application systems. The job also involves working with business partners to come up with optimal processes and solutions that meet business needs, and other activities such as reviewing test plans, troubleshooting production defects, supporting production implementations. 

Essential Job Functions

Understands processes and products and how they fit within the goals of the business unit

Reviews and validates the detailed technical design for business applications to ensure alignment with business requirements

Estimates Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality

Performs quality review checks on project deliverables

Acts as liaison between Business and IT, as assigned

Supports users in building Business Case, including cost / benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high-level plan

Supports the implementation activities, troubleshooting system environmental issues, training as required

Performs impact analysis of application changes across various components, holding an end-to-end view of the system

Specifies/Recommends Integration and Parallel testing criteria

Provides guidance to, and review deliverables of Development and QA team members.     

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist Certification within 180 days of hire required. SAFe DevOps Certification preferred.

Experience Requirements

7 years of experience in application development / testing or business / system analysis role or as an Application SME/Analyst. 
Experience working within a development team using Agile methodology is desired.
Experience with software products for creating process flows (Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, etc) is desired.

Special Skill Requirement

Experience in Personal Lines Insurance domain (Property and Casualty Insurance) is required. 
Broad and deep knowledge of Personal Lines Insurance concepts and terminology is required.
Experience with Guidewire Policy Center is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Java and GOSU programming is preferred.
