Job Summary

We are looking for a talented network cybersecurity professional to help maintain the security of our network infrastructure.  The successful applicant will have a passion for the security discipline and a willingness to learn fast.

 

 

Essential Job Functions 

This role will be a key member of the Security Engineering Team, responsible for ensuring proper security programs are delivered.  This position will be responsible for:

  • Serve as lead for large-scale security projects/initiatives, specifically in network security.
  • Sets the future direction and technical direction of technology platforms.
  • Design and architect the overall technology solution/platform, taking into account the business needs, technical needs, and industry best practices.
  • Provide oversight of team of admins for security tool/platform.
  • Ensure security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines are relevant and align to security strategy.
  • Identify information technology security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades.
  • Identify, assess, document, and articulate data security and data privacy risks in addition to appropriate countermeasures and controls to address data security and data privacy concerns.
  • Identify opportunities to proactively mitigate risks. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity safeguards to ensure that they provide the intended level of protection.
  • Monitor and evaluate a system's compliance with information technology (IT) security, resilience, and dependability requirements.
  • Interpret and/or approve security requirements relative to the capabilities of new information technologies.
  • Lead compliance activities by driving favorable security metrics.
  • Participate in audits of cyber programs and projects.
  • Track audit findings and recommendations to ensure appropriate mitigation actions are taken.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned audit actions or regulator requests by diligently providing responses and evidence within established timeframes.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify and develop appropriate solutions technology.
  • Communicate the value of information technology security throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Develop milestones and timelines for assigned security projects/initiatives.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned projects/initiatives from initiation to completion.
  • Serve as an internal consultant and advisor in own area of expertise.
  • Drive large-scale projects forward independently by coordinating with external teams and tracking deliverables not specifically owned by Farmers.
  • Provide ongoing guidance or oversight of Analysts and Specialists tasks.
  • Develop on-the-job training materials or programs. Perform other duties as assigned.   

 

Education Requirements 

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related discipline preferred. 

 

Experience Requirements 

We’re looking for someone with 7-10 years of information security work, with substantive experience working with networking and network security.  Other requirements:

  • Technical understanding and experience with NextGen firewalls and network troubleshooting
  • Ability to apply a risk management lens to complicated technical issues, and make recommendations about how to reduce risk.
  • Intellectual curiosity about cybersecurity issues.  You read cyber and technical blogs and websites to stay current on industry trends and emerging risks.
  • Flexibility.  The duties of this role will likely evolve based on the interests and capacity of the individual hired.
  • Understanding of a broad range of security technologies and how they work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences. 
  • Problem solving skills.  You're focused, driven and can get challenging projects across the finish line.

 

Special Skill Requirement  

Experience in the following areas is preferred:

  • Firewall Analyzer tools such as Algosec, Firemon or Skybox.
  • Splunk queries.
  • Functional knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
