Job Summary

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Lead Data Engineer to consult independently on data projects of varying complexity to understand design requirement and existing business processes to lead in the design, development, and implementation of data products. Specific duties include: practice code management and integration with current architectural and data governance guidelines; produce advanced/complex data building blocks, data models, and data flows for varying client requests; provide coaching and assistance to beginning staff; create business user access methods to structured and unstructured data; utilize techniques such as mapping data to a common data model, natural language processing, transforming data to satisfy business rules, AI, statistical computations, and validation of data content; translate business data stories into a technical story breakdown structure and work estimate for a schedule or planned agile sprint; work on complex projects that require interaction across multiple dependencies; coach and provide assistance to new staff members; develop and maintain complex scalable data pipelines and build out new API integrations; cleanse data to optimize for downstream reporting via Farmers standard visualization or AI/ML tools; proactively drive strategy, governance, and DM principles across multiple efforts; and develop ambiguous complex data project plans and efficiently execute with the team. Option to work remotely with required travel to local offices as needed, if within 50 miles of remote worksite.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 7 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Data Scientist, Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Senior Analyst, Software Engineering Analyst, or similar position in software development. Must have 5 years of experience working with dimensional modelling in data warehouse. Must also have 3 years of experience in each of the following: working with data engineering, including SQL Server, SSIS, Azure Data Factory; and providing end-user support for reporting and business intelligence applications, including SSRS and SSAS. Additionally, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following: working with Power BI; leading data analytics projects, including working with Azure Analysis Services and Azure Data Explorer; working with administration and configuration of reporting and analytical services; and programming in Python, DAX/MDX, SQL/TSQL, and Power Query M Code. Option to work remotely with required travel to local offices as needed, if within 50 miles of remote worksite.
