Job Summary

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks Senior Associate Data Scientist to be responsible for utilizing knowledge to apply not only predictive and prescriptive analytics, but also statistical and machine learning modeling techniques to contribute to projects and leverage customer information and behavioral data to influence data-driven strategic business decisions. Specific duties include: collaborate with IT to perform end-to-end quality assurance testing to ensure accurate deployment of models and solutions into production environments (5%); support the collection, organization, and preparation of both internal and external datasets, including structured and unstructured data, to build, rebuild, and refresh advanced Machine Learning models (5%); use AWS SageMaker and Lambda functions to schedule jobs, establish automated pipelines, and facilitate the training and deployment of machine learning models (10%); distill business problems from discussions, developing hypotheses, building an analytical framework, carrying out an analysis, and writing a clear recommendation to business stakeholders (10%); design, implement, and analyze A/B testing experiments and scenario modeling to evaluate the effectiveness of variants (15%); use GitHub to version control, share, and collaborate on code, ensuring efficient project management, seamless team collaboration, and maintaining technical documents in code documentation and deployment (20%); build and optimize advanced models using both structured and unstructured data, while designing generalized, efficient, and reusable model-building pipelines to streamline future projects (20%); partner closely with IT, business, and data management/engineering teams to plan and execute based on data infrastructure roadmap (10%); and mentor more junior members on the team and lead technical training programs to onboard new hires, ensuring alignment with team goals and accelerating their technical ramp-up (5%). Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Predictive Analyst II, Marketing Analyst II, Business Intelligence Developer, or similar position influencing data-driven strategic business decisions. In the alternative, will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Predictive Analyst II, Marketing Analyst II, Business Intelligence Developer, or similar position influencing data-driven strategic business decisions. Must have 3 years of experience working with each of the following: advanced data analysis and manipulation tools including SQL, Python, R, and Snowflake; AWS cloud computing services including Lambda, S3, SageMaker, and Athena; explanatory, diagnostic, and inferential techniques that include experimental design, hypothesis testing, clustering analysis, time-series (including ARMA and ARIMA) and other statistical modeling algorithms including Generalized Linear Regression, Gradient-Boosting, Decision Tree, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine; designing, measuring, and forecasting of key product performance metrics using self-serve business intelligence tools PowerBI and Tableau; and building, optimization, deployment, maintenance of customized advanced statistical and machine learning models in Python using structured and unstructured data and effective source code version-control in GitHub and use of Git commands for repository management. Option to work remotely.
