Remote - Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

We are passionate about quickly delivering awesome products for our customers through highly effective CI/CD pipelines.  Farmers needs a self-starter system engineer with a DevOps mentality.  In this role, you will join the Marketing IT team in building, maintaining, measuring, and constantly improving our delivery effectiveness. At Farmers, we develop software in a fast-paced environment utilizing SAFe methodology.  Our engineers have extensive experience in their areas, are life-long learners, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo.  You'll work closely with our entire systems and agile teams in a concerted effort to increase Farmers pace and efficiency.

You Should Apply If

  • You are enjoy the design and creation of system delivery solutions in line with the Farmers Enterprise DevOps roadmap, standards, and best practices.  Works with systems owners to understand system architecture and deployment requirements.  Able to maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins CloudBees Enterprise.  Secures declarative pipelines as code within GitHub Enterprise repository.
  • You support applications from ideation to production aligning with DevOps culture.
  • You design and implement automation CI/CD pipeline working with tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, GitHub, Artifactory, Kubernetes, Docker, and Splunk.
  • You participate in SAFe planning events (big room and sprints).
  • You work with the rest of the engineering team to ship code, maintain infrastructure environments, and configurations.
  • You leverage tools to enable others to be more productive and our applications at top performance.
  • You build, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot as needed.
  • You are vigilant and aware of security practices in our daily activities and align closely with our enterprise security team.
  • You collect and use metrics to drive continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • You assist with Infrastructure team projects such as software upgrades, domain changes, OKTA implementations, server refreshes, hardware upgrades, etc.
  • You influence other teams and broader engineering groups in adopting DevOps best practices.

Physical Actions

Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist Certification within 180 days of hire required.
  • SAFe DevOps Certification preferred.

Skills You'll Need

  • CICD (Continuous Integration - Continuous Delivery) knowledge with 3-5 years minimum experience.
  • Experience with Docker/Containers, OpenShift is a plus.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Node.js, Powershell or Bash.
  • Experience with additional tools such as MySQL, Groovy, Gradle, Maven and MSBuild.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience with release orchestration tools like CD-FLOW or XebiaLabs.
  • Knowledge of Java/JVM based languages. JAVA experience is a plus.
  • Experience with metrics and monitoring specific to DevOps (MTTR, MTTD, etc.).
  • 2+ years’ experience working in an Agile DevOps environment.
  • Be able to test for vulnerabilities and investigate breaches.
  • Experience with firewalls, routing, switching, load balancers, security and DNS is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in application development / testing or business / system analysis role.


  • Farmers offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications and location
  • CO Only: The pay range for this job being performed in CO would be 90,800 - 121,000
