Job Summary

Site Reliability Services team at Farmers is an innovative platform services team dedicated to provide automation and administration support for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms. Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining reliable, scalable, and high-performance systems and services. SRE must implement and maintain technologies that improve the scalability and reliability of our server infrastructure. In this role, the Site Reliability Engineer will manage and maintain Linux and Windows OS, support audit and compliance, perform backup and restores. A successful candidate must have hands on experience and able to provide on-call support.

What You'll Do

  • Automate the provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and windows operating system.
  • Automate High Availability and Disaster Recovery for all production platforms.
  • Work as a liaison between DBA, Network, Security and Cloud Engineering Teams.
  • Support vulnerability management by scanning, automating and remidiating vulnerabilities.
  • Perform backup and restores using Rubrik.
  • Support and maintain PCI,SOX, SOC 2, NACHA compliance.
  • Build and Maintain immutable OS images as per CIS standards.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and escalate issues as needed.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Quickly adapt new automation technologies and implement the same.

Experience Requirements

  • 5-7 years of related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 experience managing Linux and Windows OS across private cloud and AWS. 
  • Develop, Build and Maintain VMWare templates and Amazon AMIs.
  • Experience with Redhat suite of tools.  Ansible automation experience.
  • Experience configuring block/file/object storage technologies on operating system.
  • Good understanding of IaC tools like Terraform or Crossplane.
  • Install and maintain Red Hat Satellite servers to push changes to various servers simultaneously.
  • Prioritize vulnerability management based on risk and develop strategic plans for mitigation.
  • Experience incorporating PCI,SOX,SOC2 controls related OS hardnening.
  • AWS or Azure cloud experience. 
  • Perform regular backups, data replication, local and disaster recovery tests using Rubrik.
  • Monitor performance of the systems, troubleshoot issues and provide quick resolution.

Education You'll Need

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science or other technical discipline also preferred. 
  • Technical Certifications are a plus.

Physical Actions

Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
