Application Subject Matter Expert IV*

Job Description

The Woodland Hills, CA office of Farmers Group, Inc. seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert IV to provide high level of expertise in the front end design and functionality of business applications. Specific duties include: Understand the business objectives and how best they can be supported by IT; responsible for the conceptual design of business applications; review and validate the technical design for business applications provided by the supplier; perform quality review checks on project deliverables; validate suppliers estimates; perform impact analysis of application changes across various components; estimate Rough Order of Magnitude to implement new application functionality; specify / recommend integration and parallel testing criteria; support the implementation activities, as required. Will work with front end development tools including but not limited to Java, Struts, EJB, WAS, SOAP UI, Webservices, Informatica, Business Objects and Harvest. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. 


Position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Programmer Analyst Trainee, Programmer Analyst, Associate – Projects, Senior Associate – Projects, or similar position. Specific requirements for this role must include: 5 years of experience working with Java/J2EE programming including Struts and Spring MVC frameworks, EJB, JMS/MQ, XML, AJAX, Hibernate, Web services and IBM DB2, Oracle, Unix; 5 years of experience working in the Insurance industry across policy and claims systems; 3 years of experience working with IBM RAD, WebSphere Application Server, Informatica, SOAP UI, Business Object Reports, AQT, Erwin Data modeler, Harvest and Clear Case, Jenkins, JQuery, Angular JS; 2 years of experience with Tableau, Cube, SQL  2000; and 2 years of experience building roadmaps. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
