Farmers (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert III to work closely with both the Business partners and IT teams to solicit sound detailed business and technical requirements, build new projects and enhance existing projects, and create the reporting layer through various reporting tools. Specific duties include: supporting the insurance organization’s business intelligence/data warehousing development project focusing on the Commercial insurance business, coordinating with business partners, analysts, and developers to create IT specification documents based on business requirements by designing and developing Extract Transform Load tools and database applications for the Commercial data mart; responsible for the conceptual design of business applications; building complex Business Objects/Tableau reports and dashboards; performance tuning of existing applications to improve load run times, resolving bottlenecks, and optimizing applications; coordinating with on and offshore vendor team for task assignments; review and validate the technical design for business applications provided by the supplier; perform quality review checks on project deliverables; validate suppliers estimates; perform impact analysis of application changes across various components; estimate Rough Order of Magnitude to implement new application functionality; specify/recommend integration and parallel testing criteria; support the implementation activities, as required; coding reviews; providing knowledge of transition sessions and maintaining requisite application documentation; providing defect support for existing applications by logging and tracking them; composing reports and technical explanations; and scheduling jobs to execute the applications and load data into the warehouse. Work with development tools including but not limited to Business Objects, Crystal Reports or Tableau, SQL, PL/SQl, SQL Server, DB2.
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, as a BI/Product Manager, Software Programmer Analyst, Developer, or similar position working in application development or testing. Specific experience must include 5 years with each of the following: working with requirements gathering, documentation, development, testing, implementation/deployment, and production support using Business Intelligence reporting tools, such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or Tableau; designing complex ad hoc queries/reports against normalized databases, operational data stores, and dimensional models; conducting training for Team members/Business Users and assisting with User acceptance Testing; assisting with managing, maintaining, and configuring the reporting tool; supporting Users in detailed rough orders of magnitudes (ROMs) or estimates ; working with SQL programming; debugging on various platforms, such as SQL Server, DB2, ORACLE, or similar database technologies; working with large volume data processing using SQL, DB2, ORACLE, or MS Access and Excel.
