Job Summary 
  
Owns the research, development and design of small to medium projects and supports on large/more complex ones to drive innovation, improve process efficacy, resource productivity, claim quality, claim accuracy and customer service within the claims department. Partners with Claims leadership and other team members in identifying initiatives, process improvement opportunities and solutions focused on our customers, people, process and technology. Partners with Claims Finance to determine data analysis required to evaluate the value of a potential investment and how we will measure ongoing success. Leverages all available sources, internal and external to support the business in understanding the competitive landscape and identifying new strategic opportunities for Farmers to provide innovative solutions to our customers. 
 
We are seeking candidates with the following skills:
  • 4-year degree or minor in quantitative or analytic subject or equivalent combination of experience and relevant professional certifications 
  • Knowledge of BI tools (ETL, Reporting, Data Science, and Analytics): Tableau, SAS, Alteryx, Datarobot, Celonis. 
  • Proficient in SQL language, experience with Microsoft SQL Server a plus
  
Essential Job Functions  
  • Acts as the project owner and primary business consultant for small to medium process improvement and/or strategic projects and/or programs.
  • Responsible for evaluating all project tasks and priorities, evaluating project risks and regularly communicating status against key milestones.
  • Utilizes decision making frameworks for assessing business requirements against new technology in order to evaluate vendor offerings.
  • Collaborates with employees of all level to determine business impact of possible changes and new technologies.
  • Analyzes the impact of proposed new or revised processes prior to adoption.
  • Provides feedback and lessons learned that will help enhance how the S&P team partners and supports the lines of business, Claims Group and/or Enterprise.
  • Supports team members with data analysis and developing business readouts on project status.
  • May also present analysis to leadership stakeholders.
  • Develops stakeholder analysis and influencing strategies to increase buy in and support.
  • Attends conferences, seminars and demonstrations as required to enhance knowledge around new technology and the competitive landscape.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements 
  
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  
Experience Requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability to partner successfully with cross functional technical and business teams (Finance, IT, Operations, Marketing) to establish project objectives, action plans and timelines.
  • Ability to analyze data sets to frame up a results or a business update.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
  • For internal candidates, two years Claims leadership experience, and/or demonstrated results in leading initiatives and driving change in your role.
  • For external candidates, two years of prior leadership or project/program management experience is required.
  • This candidate should have experience leading others, either directly or indirectly through initiatives.
  • Travel as needed (typically up to 50% depending on supporting LOB) to claims operations to receive internal feedback on changes and evaluate the effectiveness of changes.
  • Ability to comfortably work with ambiguity, while assessing new technologies that present both unknown opportunities and challenges to the business.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, with high visibility to meet goals to deliver improvements to market faster.
