Assists in developing and implements the underwriting philosophy, policies and practices of Farmers New World Life. Responsible for developing an efficient underwriting department structure that supports the Underwriting Operations strategy and practices
Essential Job Functions
Supervises assigned personnel Provides leadership that supports financial strength, efficient and quick response to the changing business environment, quality, personal customer service and open communication among employees. Supports and communicates objectives in support of company's short and long term objectives. Provides for underwriting development to ensure an ongoing pool of available talent including succession planning for management positions. Represents the company to build strong underwriting peer and reinsurance relationships. Executes Life Company underwriting philosophy, policies, practices, strategies, programs and initiatives to accomplish corporate growth and financial goals. Implements medical underwriting policies and practices in conjunction with Chief Underwriter, Head of Underwriting Operations and Medical Director. Collaborates to develop new products and strategies that require new risk selection and classification criteria including simplified underwriting methods. Researches and recommends new investigation methods to optimize the effectiveness of investigation of risk tools. Ensures compliance with legislation and regulation regarding life insurance underwriting policies, practices and procedures. Develops and coordinates underwriting content posted to LifeNet in coordination with Chief Underwriter, Head of Underwriting Operations. Validates rule changes to the Underwriting System to ensure Company risk tolerance is adhered to. Maintains membership in and supports National Life Underwriting Associations; keeps abreast of improvements in medical and underwriting technology. Promotes safety and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Pursuing or obtained FALU designation.
Minimum 10 years of experience in Life Underwriting Management (required)
