Head of Claims Strategy and Automation
 
  
Job Summary 
We are seeking an innovative, strategic leader for our newly created Head of Claims Strategy and Automation role.  Working closely with the Chief Claims Officer, you will be responsible for the development and alignment of the strategic direction, priorities and goals for Claims.  As part of the Claims organization's digital transformation, you will lead high-impact projects and serve as a strategic thought partner, with the responsibility to develop automation products, services and solutions.
 
With the goal of improving the customer experience, this position will support both tactical and long-term automation solutions, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and develop a prioritized and sequenced roadmap of initiatives. Additionally, this role will act as an advisor to the Chief Claims Officer and Sr. Leadership team on market activities and trends that influence strategic recommendations.
 
Essential Job Functions 
  • Maintain a pulse on market/competitive trends. Develop actionable recommendations on market developments through fact-based analysis.  Ensure strategic and financial accuracy and alignment to support recommendations. 
  • Deliver data-driven insights to support actionable strategic recommendations and prioritization for the Claims organization.
  • Lead and support key initiatives for the Claims organization by directly initiating, planning and executing on strategic projects.
  • Responsible for developing automation products, services and solutions.
  • Lead and execute automation solutions to improve the customer experience and claims loss and expense performance.
  • Provide innovative solutions to complex business issues that span across lines of business.  Identify and evaluate implications to the existing Claims operating model.
  • Influence the senior leadership team to adopt new ideas, processes and gain commitment on initiatives impacting both Claims and the Farmers organization.
  • Accountable for translating plans into action, creating strategic clarity to drive greater engagement and buy-in through effective communication.
  • Serve as a thought partner and resource for gathering leading industry best practices to challenge status quo, while promoting innovation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners across the organization.
  • Draft strategy documents for the Claims leadership team and Board of Governors.
  • Develop scorecard and other related metrics to track and measure results and adoption rates.   
Education Requirements 
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred  
Experience Requirements 
  • Minimum 10 years' experience with a focus on strategy development and deployment
  • People leadership
  • Change management
  • Project management
 
Special Skill Requirement 
  • Extensive technical Claims knowledge (policies, coverage, regulations, claims processing) and proven ability to understand critical drivers within the Claims organization 
  • Cross-functional/business unit operations experience
  • Understanding of emerging technologies in the marketplace
  • Knowledge of market trends and competitor benchmarking
