Job Description

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert II [Pega and Mainframes] to provide expertise in the design and functionality of Business Insurance applications. Specific duties include: develop and test applications; work with PEGA development and architecture in commercial insurance domain; analyze and code Mainframes; understand the business objectives and how they can be supported by IT and application systems; participate in Program Increment (PI) planning and help in creating PI Objectives; collaborate with the Product Owner to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria for a Sprint; break down the features into user stories and deliver working code in each Sprint; design and develop code, create unit tests to meet the respective Program Increment objectives; work with the Product Owner to confirm that the code and acceptance tests reflect the desired functionality; perform quality review checks on Sprint deliverables; support resolving production reported issues; support production implementation activities, troubleshoot system environmental issues, and provide training to the Agile team or receive training as required; contribute as agile team member for continuous exploration, continuous integration and continuous deployment practices necessary for building the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and implementing DevOps. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. Must be PEGA CSSA certified.   

 

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Professional Application Delivery, or similar position. Specific experience must include: designing business workflows, user interface screens, and insurance underwriting rules; working with external systems and services for data exchange; gathering, cleaning, and analyzing data from multiple sources; creating technical design of premium rating algorithms for new coverages and/or insurance products; validating suppliers' estimates; estimating Rough Order of Magnitudes for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality; performing impact analysis of new business requirements on user interface screens and business logic, internal/external service calls, and premium rating engine; designing and implementing code changes to meet the requirements; performing quality review checks on project deliverables; acting as liaison between Business and IT; supporting the implementation activities and troubleshooting system environmental issues; performing impact analysis of application changes across various components, holding an end-to-end view of the system; and specifying/recommending integration and parallel testing criteria. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S. Must be PEGA CSSA certified.
