Application Developer IV

Job Description

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Developer IV to design and develop computer programs, perform preliminary evaluation of packaged software, and conduct system studies. Specific duties include: prepare code instructions for computer programs/objects/components using programming languages Java, J2EE, Angular JS, JQuery, CSS3, HTML5, IBM Integration Bus, and Gosu; configure Guidewire PolicyCenter as per the Farmers Product specification and integrate to the ecosystem applications; document and implement programs according to installation standards and conventions; quality check program code, related objects and documentation; respond to production support issues and assist incident management team; analyze software programs to ensure that they efficiently use computer and storage resources and recommend appropriate changes as necessary; conduct preliminary estimates/ Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort of new/change to application functionality; analyze and document the requirements and approaches to data conversion and data modeling; conduct system studies, analyze existing computerized and manual processes to improve efficiency; research and develop techniques for automation using DevOps tools, Splunk and AppDynamics, as approved; monitor the work of junior staff and suppliers to ensure efficiency and compliance with specification; design and develop documentation of proposed procedures and systems; perform preliminary evaluation of packaged software; support implementation/training activities; and troubleshoot system environmental issues, as required. Position may require occasional travel within the U.S.
 
Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Senior Associate - Projects, Programmer Analyst, Application Designer - Sr. Professional,  or similar position. Specific experience must include 5 years with web based java development. Specific experience must also include working each of the following: Java/J2EE programming; J2EE Application Servers, including XML, Web Services, and RDBMS; DevOps tools, such as Jenkins and Maven; Security integration using OKTA; Mulesoft and IBM Integration Bus; Personal Lines Insurance domain; and Guidewire PolicyCenter. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
