Application Subject Matter Expert IV*

Job Description

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert IV to design, develop, and deploy various Enterprise Monitoring tools and solutions and continue developing and executing the Enterprise Monitoring roadmap with the implementation and administration of Enterprise Monitoring. Specific responsibilities include: work with various teams to understand transactions that need to be monitored and develop solutions to meet those requirements; perform configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of monitoring platform; develop functional procedure and system documentation as needed; validate supplier estimates and estimate Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality; analyze and identify thresholds to establish meaningful alerts; work with infrastructure teams to establish baseline monitoring and thresholds for core technologies; work with application teams to create custom alerts for critical applications; and provide technical leadership and mentoring to peers. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S.   

 

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Architect, or similar Software/Systems Engineering position. Must have the following experience: 5 years in large enterprise environments; 3 years working with Enterprise Operating Systems including Unix/Linux and Windows Server; 3 years working with at least three of the following web/application servers: IBM WebSphere, .NET, IIS, Apache Tomcat, or JBoss; 2 years working with installation, configuration, and administration of Application Performance Monitoring software, such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or similar software; 2 years working with web technologies including HTML, XML, and JSON; 2 years working with at least three of the following programming/scripting Languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, Selenium, Shell Script, Batch Script, or Ansible; 1 year working with installation, configuration, and administration of Splunk Enterprise log monitoring software; and 1 year working with at least two of the following databases: Oracle, SQL, DB2, or Postgres. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
