Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert III to provide a high level of expertise in the design and development of functionality of business applications, develop new Farmer’s mobile applications, and understand the business objectives and how best they can be supported by IT. Specific job duties include: develop and support Farmer’s customer-facing mobile applications using Swift and Java; develop in-house applications; conduct code reviews as part of our Git Workflow; leverage best practices from industry that will influence and drive technical and operational improvements; analyze and present the technical tradeoff between solutions e.g. CPU/GPU rendering, caching policies; make recommendations on code and architectural changes and conduct cost/benefit analysis of potential improvements; responsible for the conceptual design of business applications and review and validate the technical design for business applications provided by the supplier; develop the core modules of the functionality; perform quality review checks on project deliverables; validate suppliers estimates; perform impact analysis of application changes across various components; estimate Rough Order of Magnitude to implement new application functionality; specify and recommend integration and parallel testing criteria; support implementation activities and help fix any issues after deployment of the functionality; and mentor and help teammates. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Programmer Analyst Trainee, Programmer Analyst, Associate – Projects, Sr. Associate - Projects, Sr. Product Specialist – Tech, or similar position in software development. Must have 5 years of web based Java development experience. Must also have 3 years of PolicyCenter Integration and Configuration and Rating experience, including 3 years with each of the following: designing, developing, modifying, testing, debugging, and maintaining GOSU language application code within Guidewire PolicyCenter; writing business rules and other business logic; configuring operational and administration related parameters such as roles and permissions, user attributes regions, or activity patterns; developing Plugin and Custom batch components in PolicyCenter; working with real time web service and near real time message based integrations; working with integration accelerators; working with Rating book, Pre rate modules, and Rating routines; working with Guidewire messaging XML (GX Model); and working with Integration architecture and platforms (OSB, ESB, JDBC). Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
