Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Software Performance Engineer to lead and manage all aspects of performance engineering and testing, including planning activities, developing application performance testing strategy, developing performance scripts, troubleshooting to identify performance issues, and performing root cause analysis during performance testing. Specific duties include: develop robust, reusable, performance engineering frameworks for each application or system as per the business requirements by reviewing application architecture and solution designs; develop, document, execute, and maintain technical test cases and test data by establishing performance workload model based on non-functional requirements –NFRs & SLAs for end-to-end performance testing; validate system design and define the overall performance testing strategy and manage all technical testing activities including develop technical test plans, test scenarios, test objectives, quality criteria and measurement techniques; execute the performance testing types including Stress, Volume, soak, spike, fail-over, configuration, and isolation as applicable by utilizing performance engineering tools; support application development, implementation, user training activities by assisting with setting up and maintaining the performance test environments in scale with Production with necessary access and participate in resolution of environmental issues by coordinating with Development, System Admins, Operations, Production Support and Database teams; analyze Performance test results, identify performance bottlenecks and assist with Root Cause Analysis by applying performance engineering principles using APM tools; maintain and Publish Status of test plan execution, defect logs through defect tracking system tools; support the Configuration/Change Management groups to ensure smooth transition of code through the Performance assessments lifecycle; oversee workflow and work distribution within Performance testing area, coordinate activities to meet service levels and validate acceptance criteria for Performance testing and optimization phases; maintain knowledge of business unit processes/products to ensure applications adhere to functional and quality requirements; ensure that acceptance criteria are met; provide guidance on the usage of performance engineering tools and development of scenarios, test objectives, and performance use cases to Levels I and II Performance Testing Specialists; participate in depth analysis and development of new or revised standards, methodologies, and processes for Performance engineering practices; develop training material as necessary; participate in preparation of proposals, action plans, as required for performance testing and engineering engagements; make project stop/go recommendations to management before go-live on Application performance; and recommend recovery actions/process changes for optimal performance in Production.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Test Engineer, Systems Analyst, Analyst Programmer, Senior Professional Quality, or similar position. Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: C and Java programming; performance testing and engineering; preparing performance model as per production scaling volumes; creating test strategy, work plans, designing use cases for performance requirements; developing monitoring dashboards; publishing performance results analysis summary reports; Agile methodology; LoadRunner and Performance Center Tools; Splunk, AppDynamics, and Dynatrace Monitoring Tools; Unix/Linux, Oracle DB, and DB2 Databases; and IBM WebSphere MQ, SQL Developer, Toad, and Quality Center Tools. Must also have 4 years of experience in each of the following: providing performance tuning solutions and performance optimization recommendations; following standard software performance engineering and capacity procedures; determining performance risk assessment tasks; and working with IBM Thread Dump Analyzer, IBM Heap Analyzer, and IBM Strobe for DB2.
